Cars And Life In Japan, 2007

Each January a classic car show is held in Odaiba ( Tokyo Bay area). There is a good mix of Japanese and European cars from the 50s through to the 80s. As is often the case, the car park is just as interesting as the show. Here are some cars from this year.

The final shot was taken from the Fuji TV building and you can see a line of tents which housed the trade stalls.

Every year I have attended there have been cars on display from the Nissan, Honda, Mazda and Toyota collections.

It's only a short train trip down to Yokohama from Tokyo and it's well worth the visit.

There are some very impressive Western style buildings which are open to the public. Just a short walk away is a well known tin toy museum.

It seems obligatory to post photos of your lunch and dinner on this forum. Now I don't feel like such a dumb tourist for taking them.

Here are some more shots from the Japanese Classic Car Association's display.

There aren't too many Nissans here this time. I'll go back through my photos from previous years for more of those.

In Shinjuku there is a really interesting store called Tokyu Hands. It's at the southern end of the station and is attached to the Takashimaya dept store. Nice hair-piece: read the instructions.

Yummy donuts at Mr Donut and pretty good coffee at Doutor.

I've been to a cake store in a Multive levels shopping center at Osaka, really early in the morning too. It caught my attention when i saw the amount of Japanese lining up so i though damn, this has to good and i joined the queue. Turned out the cakes was freshly bake, nice coffee and the best thing is you can lit a cigi right after that, in house.

The coffee, cakes and pastries in Japan are as good as I've had anywhere. And cheap, too. The coffee is usually under $2.

Apart from the novelty, I can't understand why so many people want to queue at this place:

This branch has been open in Shinjuku for over a year and I've seen waiting times of more than an hour.
