OK, so I've always wanted a 33 GTR and finally got one but prior to now I have never really looked into what mods to do to them so this is all a bit new to me. Been reading some posts on here, magazines etc and come up with a list of bolt on mods I want to do and would like some advice on the list and what I should add or shouldn't bother with. Looking for 330-350AWKW and mid 11s at over 120mph. The car currently has 80k on the clock(or so it says anyway, but no reason to think it doesn't) a 3 or 3.5in(not 100% sure) stainless exhaust(no dumps), HKS pods, Haltech E11v2.

my list:

Garrett GT2560 -5(350hp) x2

Twin Dumps

remove the AFM's and get decent size filter to turbo pipes, new pods and a sealed airbox

Walbro in tank pump

Fuel pressure reg.

740cc injectors

Splitfire Coilpacks

Tomei 260ish/260ish cams(any suggestions here?)

Adjustable cam gears(Tomei/HKS)

Aftermarket Intercooler(any suggestions for nice sized, thick, direct bolt on options?)

retune with twin maps on Haltech with 0.8/0.9 bar and 1.4 bar switchable

Then I'd be curious if most of the stock stuff is stuff you can sell, are people interested in buying stock turbos, coilpacks, inj, cams/gears etc, I'd imagine they are, the cooler would go pretty easily I'd think.

Anyway, any help, advice or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

can I be the first to ask what (if anything) you are planning on doing with the internals ?

1.4 bar sounds like too much boost for std internals to me (shrugs) - any other comments

Also - walbro are WAY too loud for me :D - even in tank drives me crazy

just my 2c worth

stock internals, maybe not quite as high as 20psi, maybe 18psi, but I've been told 20psi on a stock low(ish) klms motor is pretty safe.

I'm not concerned with loud pumps, I've had cars with external 044 etc in the boot, so any in tank pump should be quiet in comparison!

the walbro will have no chance supplying 350kw, its like a joke you even suggest to use one. get a surge tank and 2 x bosch 044's and forget you ever had fuel supply issues

my suggestion for 350kw

350hp low mounted .86 ex housing turbos, what ever brand you like

PWR intercooler

2x bosch 044 fuel pumps with custom surge tank

sard fuel reg

exhast similar to 3" off turbos to 4" system.

I've got very similar mods to your planned list, although at the moment still stock cams / cam gears (big limiation). I make 290kw @ all four and run 11.8 @ 117mph. It should gain quite a lot of power once I put the cams in (top end, and lots of midrange). From there, it's a question of how much you trust your stock bottom end and what you use the car for. I've got a stock bottom end so I don't want to run more than 300kw @ all four, or a figure around that anyway. Mine is a street driven car with the odd legal drag race, so I figure it should run this kinda power for a long time without too many dramas.

I do use AFMs though, and a PFC, but a E11 is a great ECU :D

Don't forget you'll need a decent clutch. Not sure whether the FMIC is needed.

.86 housing?????? bit big i reckon...

mate im doing the same mods nearly and the garret -5 with 0.64 rear housings are on the money...twin 0.86 would be rather laggy

Here is the setup in 1 of my cars (330kw @ 1.5bar), reliable all day every day power. In your case i'd just grab a T04Z kit however you certainly don't need a twin fuel pump + surge setup.

HKS - GT2530 Sports Turbine Kit

HKS - Extention Kit (Dump Pipes)

HKS - Exhaust Manifolds

HKS - Fuel Pump (280L/hr)

PWR - Front mount Intercooler (90mm)

APEXi - Power FC and Hand Controller

APEXi - AVC-R

APEXi - Super Suction kit To Suit Z32 AFM 80mm

Tomei - Pon Cam Shafts IN 260, EX 260 Lift: 9.15mm

Tomei Adjustable cam Pullys

Sard - 700cc Fuel Injectors

Nismo - 80mm Air Flow Meters

Nismo - Fuel Regulator

Do Luck - 3 Inch Exhaust System

Check this out for Garrett turbo model numbers, people seem to be getting mixed up between a few 2560 and 2860 models

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...bochargers.html

I am running the 2560-9's at 22psi for 368awkw, 355 at 20psi. Stock rebuilt head with 260 poncams.

Power fc

260 poncamsand adjustable cam wheels

720cc Sards

HKS exhaust manifolds

HKS dumps

HKS filters

HKS front mount

Fuel pressure reg

2x044's one in tank to swirl pot, one external from swirl pot

Oh yeh, it ran 11.1 on crap 19 inch tyres spinning 1st and trapped 130mph in full street trim

Thats it for induction, turbos, exhaust.

I had a walbro intank on my gts & it was fine made 362kw there rated 2 500hp had no problem with it but i have 2 say we checked fuel return & nothing was going back 2 tank it was maxed out so 362kw is pretty close 2 500hp just under not a bad pump overall i reckons

Ok, just to reply to everyone that has made a point.

A walbro will be fine, feed up to 700hp, maybe an 044 in tank setup, but I will not be going externals or surge tanks as I drive this car 3-4 times a week to work, don't want the extra noise, don't want the extra stink and want it to remain legal, plus the intanks can supply for that power easy! Turbos with ex housing that size would be a bit laggy, I want responsiveness close to the factory setup.....and 2560's are more than capable of mid 11s.

What psi do you make the 290kw on? Perhaps I'll realistically only shoot for 330kw then, seeing as that's probably all I need for the time I want....but it would be nice to have some extra. I use my car as a semi-daily, doesn't have to be at all, but I want it to be. The plan is to run about 12psi all day every day, which would be a very safe amount for the stock motor and still give me high 200kw's for some fun, and switch it to 18psi or there abouts for a smash or a few runs at the track!!

Its already got a pretty new button clutch in it, so that isn't a concern....FMIC probably not needed, but its my wanky side coming in and wanting a shiny one

if the car you have is stock completely have you thought about selling it and buying a modified one ?

it will work out cheaper

I looked at modded ones, to trashed and too much of the unknown, and now I know why I buy stock cars and mod them myself, may cost more, but piece of mind knowing what I'VE done and done properly. More fun this way too. Plus the one I bought is in top nick, with some nice expensive bits on it like CF parts, TE37s and the Haltech already!

The same power as yours would be fine for me, and your setup sounds pretty much like what I want. How do you feel running 20+psi on a stock motor?....I don't want a big single, I want it to look fairly stock when you pop the bonnet.

fieds83- great power and great time/mph....that would be nice, but I won't be counting on that power with a stock motor, nor on that time/mph!

Thanks for the help guys.....I think the setup I've got listed seems to be the go....but maybe on slightly less boost for the high setting with a little less power for safety reasons....but it will be more than enough to snag me my mid 11 if I drive it right!

My walbro maxed out @ 270rwkw/17psi.

Dropped in a external bosch/surge tank and the AFR's went 10:1 on the first dyno run from ~12:5/13:1

Walbro's are too hit and miss for a performance turbo application as far as ive seen. I know too many people who've had issues.

They are fine for a 240rwkw application, but much more its just risk.

.86 housing turbos - silly suggestion.

GT-SS's will get you 11's EASILY in a GTR, which are equiv to the smallest Garretts and almost as responsive as factory turbos.

Just remeber that once you get up over 300-330rwkw, the motor generally wont last forever

Some people have a few years out of them, some havent. When your running over double the factory output things do tend to die eventually.

Impressive time

Stock gearbox holding up OK? Build bottom end I assume?

Yep bottom end done, gearboxes are an issue at this level. My car has been through 3 so i have just replaced it with an os giken gearset and billit centre plate.

At this power level if you have an unopened engine and unsure of condition your engine it could last 100,000kms or 1,000kms depending on how well it has been taken care of and what sort of abuse it has suffered. 330rwk is more than enough to hurt a worn engine and you will know about it very quickly if it happens. A well maintained bottom end on the other hand should handle 20psi and 330+ but it really is a matter of tune and time. Everything has a lifespan in an engine and power level is not always the determining factor though it can speed up deterioration.

This car has an exhaust and pods only, no other mods except the computer(as the stocker shat itself) which would allow very good tunability so it is setup right. It has only ever been run on premium fuels and 12psi, probably less boost in Japan as the 12 was only done with the Haltech, it has also been very well looked after and serviced religiously. So my guess is that it is a very well taken care of engine. I don't expect it to last forever, but on an everyday setting of still just 12psi, it shouldn't be an issue, only very rarely will it see high boost and any sort of hard driving.....we aren't talking 20psi all day every day and foot to the floor driving.....why would a motor expire with low boost and pretty normal driving, its under no more pressure with the mods than it is now! I'm not concerned with how long it will last, if it gets tired, I'd rebuild, properly, but no point doing that now when the motor should be in pretty decent condition.

Might look into other pumps though....any suggestions on other intank options?

the list is short and easy i do it regulary:

pump

T517Z's or garrett clunkers

cooler

700cc injectors

ECU (EMU or PFC)

front pipe

cat back

Z32's or RB25 AFM.

DONT need:

Cams

Cam gears

fuel reg

dumps

Manifolds (big waste)

qikgtr you didnt buy your car from someone in melb recently did ya ?

nope.

Uras - while the turbos are off, you may aswell chuck on some dumps, the rest of the system is done, so its just something I figure I'd do at the time. I've been told cams really won't make a huge difference, but the gears will for getting settings right.
