Hi this topic may have been covered but i am yet to find any info on these forums. I am looking at getting my r33 registered (has been registered in wa before, complied etc), it has aftermarket gear on it but the main thing concerning me is the coilovers(height, damper adjustable)? i have heard people have trouble taking cars through the pits with adjustable coilovers has anyone recently had any experience with the pits regarding this issue? i am thinking off putting stock suspension on it but dont really want to go spending money if i can still go through the pits with coilovers.

Any info would be appreciated Cheers.

Yes it's true, I'm going through it now with a yellow sticker :D Thread on the main WA page (might not be on the first page anymore) but basically for any mods it has, you will need pre-approval for. Best bet is to apply in advance to taking it over, as it can take about a month before processing your application. Huge backlog, government workers, do the maths.

Any height adjustable suspension will be turned down unless you modify to a way you can't adjust it any more when you have it at the lowest legal point, but why screw up a perfectly good set of suspension to do that when you can just put on a set of stockies. Aftermarket ecu's are no-go as well unless you want to spend big coin on emissions tests, and major mods like big turbos or brake changes etc need engineering approval.

hmm it does suck big time, after market ecus need to be emission tested whats the ecu got to do with emissions isnt that exhaust related? i got the forms for modifications to fill out today, i guess il just fill that out see what the go is put all stock shit on, so does that mean you would need a permit for a power fc or any other aftermarket ecu?

  • 1 month later...

I passed my Z20 soarer with coilovers , just raised it up so i could fit my fist beween the tyre and the wheel arch put stockies on

went over WELSHPOOL PITS !!!!!! and past .

note: WELSHPOOL PITS being the key words in that sentance.
