Just followed the tute at: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fi...-s-t113284.html to attempt to fix my afm's (intermittently dies under acceleration OR when im cruising at a constant speed and need to wack it with a torch to fix)

My solder connections seem fine, putting a bit of pressure on them no movement, and they look fine.. fresh even ( sum1 else has pulled these apart)

Was just wondering if it matters that i'm missing the yellow cover for the AFM circuit board? (just in case it acts as a ground or smtn, not the outer black cover)

thanks,

Also, is there anything else that can go wrong that i could check for? A dirty sensor wouldn't cause this would it? I have already re-wired about 40 cm of the wiring going into the AFM (i was moving it and it was stuffing up randomly) but that didn't fix it, and only hitting it fixes it so i would think that'd rule out a sensor problem

true, was trying to save a hundred bucks would suck if i bought a new 1 and the problem still wasn't fixed

bl on the circuit board ^^ i snapped the casing a lil trying to get the black cover off but no dmg's luckily

a 'new' one will cost a lot more than $100. (closer to $1000 - thanks Nissan!)

2nd hand you should be able to find them for $50-$100 max

i'd resolder it anyway. visual inspection of solder will tell you very little. Resolder it just to be sure and see if it works then.

otherwise, could just be borked.

+1

Resoldering is so easy you might as well. I did mine even though they appeared to be ok.
