Hey fella's, just had a thought.

They say the JZX100 2.5L 1JZGTE vvti single turbo model has the largest turbs of the toyota range. It has a T3 flange on it too which means it'll bolt up to a standard rb20/25 exhaust manifold. Obviously the dump flange is different to a gtst turbo, so fitting one will require a different dump and possibly changes made to the intercooler piping.

So does anyone know if they're any bigger than the r33 rb25 turbo? Flow more etc? Good/crap upgrade/downgrade?

It has the much hated ceramic turbine wheel, and can't safely be boosted above 14psi much like the skyline turbo's. Buts thats all I know.

I'm probably answering my own question, but i suppose it comes down to if it does actually give an extra 15rwkw, is the price you pay for the turbo, dump fabrication, front pipe modification, intercooler piping modification, oil and water fittings actually worth it? .......Probably not.

Flow less. Are a POS.

Mate has a chaser, stock turbo, with exhaust and FMIC, it peaks out of flow at around 5500RPM.

They are not as bad as you think as in stock form they turn out more torque than the earlier rb26detts although they have 1 less turbo and 0.1L less displacement...

Although i'm interested to know...when it peaked at 5500rpm...how much power was it making? Because the r33 stock turbos also peak soon after that point...if the chaser turbo makes power regardless then it probably isn't a crap turbo...its just not viable for us...

You make good points. As far as my knowledge served me, the chaser is faster than a gtst/25t/gtt out of the factory, and is a heavier car(not by much), but has the same displacement.

No there was a single turbo version (2JZ) as well with some form of CTxx turbo .

Really?? Are you sure - I most definitely haven't heard of that. The 1JZGTE was twin and ended up with the single turbo CT20B if I remember rightly, which seem about comparable with an R33 GTS25t turbo from all I've seen.

What car used this version of the 2JZ? i thought only the Supras and Aristos came out with 2JZs and they both ran sequential twins...didn't know there was a single turbo 2JZ from factory...can anyone confirm this?
