hey guys, sorry but i have to say this.

while most of you here are sitting around talking about which filter makes the best woosh woosh sound, the guys in the force induced section are discussing rear housing sizes, how to get more power, ideal set ups, best compromise, etc. etc. etc.

this thread (and the turbo timer thread) has easily gone over to two pages; whilst cara's thread on nitrous, extractors, clutches, dyno graphs, etc struggle to make even the first page. this is what sets them apart from us - with threads like 'noise of pod filter' doing so well, it's understandable why people look down upon these things.

some food for thought, by all means continue with the thread - just my 2c

Yeah well i think that for the N/A owners out there (myself included) these sorts of things (noise of a pod filter) are easily changed and gve the less professional / mechanically minded skyline owner something to think about and tinker with. Not saying that all the members posting in this section have poor mechanical ideas/traits but this kinda stuff IS interesting and well, fun to talk about>

All the best N/A owners out there keep up the good work!!

Havent ya heard, you aint cool unless your suckin in the hot stuff!!!!!

Ive since added the original air intake cover that sits on the front of the engine, hoping to suck some of the cooler stuff in.

I havent had any probs (so far) so i think ill leave it as is.

thats a nice setup emz r33. but here u would get raped for it. coppas are soo fuzzy on the legislation. 1 said had to be secured and other said it needed to be boxed?!?!?!

dont want to sound mean. but unless some of u are on your p's. why not sell your de's and get a det?

MMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, thinking about going turbo (either buying another car or upgrading) but im just really happy with the N/A at the moment. And fuel consumption isnt bad either. Dont know if i want to bther something thats running well.

Maybe in years to come, but im really happy with the 4 doors, N/A and general look of my car.......saying that, im looking at lowerering it in the new year and ???????? respray down the track!!!!

Oh and i was lokoing at getting a clear box to surround the pod filter (seen then on ebay for bout $100) but wasnt too sure about how good/efect they would be in regarding to heat reducing/better air intake. Also dont know if the cops would deem them legal (if i ever went interstate)

Long story short, i did the air filter change for a quick apperence change/easy mod. So far it looks good and i havent had any issues with cops (touch wood).

hmm i under stand what your saying eug but i only did this new topic because i couldnt find an answer anywhere else. ive made my decision im going to go with apexi. i should be getting extractors and exhaust soon.... i might need to ask youy a few questions on it later...

hey guys, this isnt too much about the noise of a pod filoter but i was wondering of anyone out there has bought one of those "cold air boxes" from ebay that encloses the pod filter.

Please go to:

www.ebay.com.au

search for;

"cold air box R33"

is only listed for 5 days so be quick with this link, may not functyion after this time.

should sidplay 2 boxes, a clear and a black box

Now the questions.............

1) would they shield any heat?

2) Give any added cooling capacity?

3) worth buying at that price??????

Thanks ppl

wow this thread has gone for a long time which is interesting, i think the air box is good for protecting the intake from sheilding heat from other systems in the engine bya, price? not sure however.

2) Give any added cooling capacity?

3) worth buying at that price??????

Thanks ppl

EMZ

1. it would shield a small amount of heat

2. without an intake no, it'll just end up trapping the hot air inside. (think sauna)

3. you could fabricate one out of steel and line it with reflective foam/insulation for half the price.
