Hey guys,

I had an alarm installed in my car today and drove it home from the shop and it was fine. I just went back and jumped in it before, turned it on and everything sounded normal and good. Except i noticed when i was trying to turn the car out of the park the steering felt very stiff and a lot harder to pull around. I have no leaks or fluid under the car and it all sounds what i think is normal when i turn accessories on. Its just when cornering it feels like the power steering isn't there properly or something, but was working only an hour ago. Any info would be good, its a R34 GTR V-Spec also. If noone knows i might just take it to get checked out tomorrow.

power steering belt tight enough?...

maybe u mite have a faulty power steering pump?? id expect a car like that to have some sort of warrenty yeh?

Yeah it would be replaced if it was faulty i believe. I just don't see how it had died between me turning the car off and then turning it on again from the same position. Is there a fuse or something there it could be?

you'd prolly have more luck in the Maintenance section.

Check the ECU for error codes, maybe a bung sensor, as a a solenoid that control PS assist is speed dependent.

Stupid question, but are the tyres all inflated to proper pressures?

One quick thing to check, IF the 34 is the same as 32 & 33, the hicas module and power steering module are combined, check that it still has power and the alarm install hasn't screwed with it in any way.

Can't help on the diagnostic side but you could try the r33 hicas diagnostic and see if that works.

Well i took it to the mechanic today and he seems to think it might be a blocked valve in the power steering lines, the fluid smells a little burnt he said and apparently its not uncommon for the valves to get blocked. No damage being done to the car luckily, i'll just have to drive with heavy steering until monday... get myself some arm muscle at least :(
