got coil packs changed over from a mechanic, got the car back and the tacho is going crazy! mechanic says it is the instrument cluster/needs to be changed over with a new set (i have another set so it doesnt worry me) but i just wanted to know wtf it could be?

even when the car is just on but not started it goes past redline all the way it can go and back again, its like there is some kind of electric current making it go crazy?

it clearly doesnt work at all and its jumping all over the place, thank god i drive an auto.

any help would be great thanks!

I know this isn't the exact same problem as you but with my old gemini when I changed it over to electronic ignition it sent the after market tacho crazy. The ignition book mentioned it needed some form stabalizer kit for to give proper tacho reading. Maybe talk to an auto elec.

also another thing that could be related (no idea i dont know anything about car electronics) is my front left door speaker isnt working? i have pioneer splits hooked up to an amp. im hoping its just a loose wire or something.

hey mate,

the speaker not working wud be another totally unrelated problem.check your wiring,if the other channel on the amp is still working fine then your amp should be fine (hopfully) so it should just be a wiring isue.also check the connections on the back of the speakers (inside the doors).
