Ronin 09
i was just thinking that if the driling is along same curve as the vanes, then the drilling holes should arc backward towards the back of the car rather than forward like in your pics... sorry to worry you but I reckon it's backwards... more than happy to be proved wrong though in the pic i added, forget about the slotting, they go backward to the curved vanes. the second pic you've posted showing the rotor between the caliper convinces me further that they're backward - remember that the hot air is forced out through the rotor from centre to outside edge, and is assited by centrifugal force out. the way yours is located is trying to force air in at the outer edge, and toward the centre of the rotor. does that make any sense? Interesting. I know what your talking about. I don't mind taking it a part and switching it around if it improves overall performance and can save me from extreme heat. Just gota get my head around the situation. Ronin 09
oh shit #2 (you're going to hate me): you need to swap the L&R calipers because the bleeders are at the bottom of the caliper in your setup, rather than the top... which will make it hard to bleed the calipers that is possible only if the pistons sizes are the same (which is unlikely), seeing that leading caliper is usually smaller what you'll need to do is swap the bridge from top of the caliper to bottom, and move the bledding nipples to the top Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194010-gtr-with-mercedes-benz-amg-8-piston-monoblock-brembos-amg-4-piston-brembos/page/2/#findComment-3482524 Share on other sites

Bloody Beautiful car and brake set up Yeah, i noticed the bleeder. I changed the calipers around ages ago. The day i took the pictures. It was just trial fit and wanted some pictues. The bleeders are the right way up, not sure if you can see in the later photos. Thanks for the info search. I guess i'll have to change them around. Should be fine. STATUS
That's amazing. I got hold of a new F6/R4 Brembo BA FPV GT-P set up and while the front was going to be relatively simple the rear disc offset was a lot different. In the end I decided I'll onsell them at some stage. Nice brakes though. I got quoted $1000 per end to have caliper brackets made up for the big Brembos, that was part of the reason for deciding to move them on. The F50s are OK I guess, biggest 4 pot I'm aware of and run a 355mm disc. They are on the BA GT-Ps also. The thing was the kit comes with two peice hats and Brembo brackets, so it's a drop-in fit. if your in Melb i have a killer contact for caliper brackets.... ex supercar engineer that does alot of brake work for us. At least half the price of what you are talking. Beer Baron
nice conversion. they are a faily similar set-up to the R35 GTR brakes oh, and ronin is right they are definately back to front. in the shot showing the caliper and rotor front on you can see they are curved vane and the vanes are going the wrong way. glad you corrected the bleed nipple too. Well a start to my R33.4.5 GT-R Conversion Yeah, i understand now what he was talking about. Will have to change it asap. So just to confirm the curves should be facing backwards. like ) not ( which they are currently at. lol you said nipple. lol. You did too. Thanks for letting me know ronin. Roy
Nice kit. The 8 pot Brembos are surprisingly cheap new because of the amount of manufactureres that use them as OE. Audi, Lambo, AMG, R35 etc .... they are nice looking things, if only the pads werent so bloody expensive Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194010-gtr-with-mercedes-benz-amg-8-piston-monoblock-brembos-amg-4-piston-brembos/page/2/#findComment-3483259 Share on other sites

funkymonkey
they had a review of the AMG Merc E63 Stationwagon (or estate as they call it in the UK) on Top Gear on Sunday with those same brakes... and by god, if it can pull up that beast in such a short time, I'd be worried about you flying out the windscreen every time you tapped the brakes with those in your GTR. Yeah, haven't had to use the brakes to stop asap yet. Hope i don't have to too I'm pretty sure it'll be more than necessary The weight of those Mercs are much higher than any skyline. Owgasm
wonder how these match up with the new GT-R brakes Has anyone started stripping R35's yet? i'd like to buy the brake kit on it. lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194010-gtr-with-mercedes-benz-amg-8-piston-monoblock-brembos-amg-4-piston-brembos/page/2/#findComment-3618490 Share on other sites
N1GTR
R35 brake prices were listed quickly somewhere (cant remember where) but i do remember the price Calipers by themselves: $3500 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194010-gtr-with-mercedes-benz-amg-8-piston-monoblock-brembos-amg-4-piston-brembos/page/2/#findComment-3618495 Share on other sites
Roy
Well if anyone wants R35 calipers, which are probably the same as AMG, Audi etc calipers then i will gladly sell them to people for say, $3,000. Mst be a bargain at that price If they are the other 8 pot caliper then they cost a bit more but are still a lot less then $3500. Seems silly to me to pay twice the price for a caliper, ust so you can go from 370mm to 380mm Anyone ever rang NIssan for a price on GTR Brembos for an R44. I think they were $2200 each Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194010-gtr-with-mercedes-benz-amg-8-piston-monoblock-brembos-amg-4-piston-brembos/page/2/#findComment-3618643 Share on other sites
Beer Baron
steve I don't know where you get $3500 for a set of R35 calipers but my guess is nissan charge much more than that. they are 6 piston mono-block brembos used with 380mm rotors.
