anyone had problems with their reverse lights working on and off, because of the reverse switch on the gearbox, I have to hold the gearstick in the reverse position hard for the reverse lights to come on,otherwise they dont work. is there a easy way to fix or replace the switch ? from underneath the car ,not only is the front drive shaft in the way of getting to it, but even if it wasnt the spot where it is ,is near impossible to reach. i dont want to have to remove the whole gearbox just for a switch. any ideas?

It's a bitch to get to. It's not a do it at home job, you'll need a hoist.

The switch is near the top of your gear box if I remember correctly. I think you'll have to remove the whole gearbox, but not 100% sure.

If my memory isn't playing with me, a new switch should cost you ~$90 from Nissan.

i dropped the gearbox by undoing the crossmember but it doesnt drop low enough to get a spanner on top of the switch nut, the only way i can see doing it without removing the whole gearbox it to use a socket with a open side so the wires can come through the side is there such a socket?

I have the same problem but havent fixed it. waiting on a new clutch. mines been stuffed for about 2 years haha. I bought the switch 2 years ago an i think it was like 70 bucks or so. But i was talking to this mechanic in brisbane who seemed to know alot about GTRS and he told me that sometimes it can be a neutral-first switch..?? i dont actually understand that but thats what he told me. Aparently revs are ment to change from neutral into first (not much) and sometimes if this goes the reverse light doesnt work. But yeah seems strange to me. But how you just said to do it with a socket is how he told me to do it. But i think youll just have to make it yourself. anyway goodluck

Hi there, I hope someone can help. The part of the loom that connects to the reverse and neutral switches on my R32 GTS4 has been ripped out (one of those things). I can't see where these are meant to connect to; the best I can see is a bit of the loom that passes by the alternator but I can't be sure that this is it as these wires don't seem to activate my reverse lights. Any help would be great - I have a thread going about this here. Thanks, Ben

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. • Try fabricating something like this and install it under the pedals? Not sure if it's legal or not....
    • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
