rs73
In the other videos where they shown various V35, they kept saying taking out the DVD-ROM and replace it with Australian compliant player... while keeping all the factory trip computer functions. what they don't realise is the DVD ROM is the brain that pretty much control all your trip computer, those who had installed another player in the upper glovebox space actually had the DVD ROM relocated somewhere else out of view. Can't really disconnect the thing just like that. Well can't blame them 100% they're sales people, they're not auto electricians. rs73
I think the guy was quite nervous really being an actor in the video, if you kept watching their other videos there's another one where he stuttered for words and said something wrong that either the V35 or V36 was the same engine spec with locally delivered 350...er..GT... er Z... lost for words... Unless they have bigger budget to hire an advertising actor/actress who can memorise ad script and have the time to do multiple shots each time the presenter gets lost for words, then I don't see how you would have 100% smooth take on the first run. Cruzen
LOL... remind me before next meet I'll burnoff the japanese map dvd rom if you still misses your Japanese 'kanji' old flame. Hi Rianto, About pickup a V35 shortly not sure if it will be a 2001 or a 2004. My eyes are now burning with the amount of reading I have done rearding the TV & Nav conversions, It looks like though you boys have figured it out, Great Work ! Just wondering on the cost involved a little confused, I read somewhere that it costs $200 to convert the Menus into English, $180 if you are a SAU member, Is this only for the labour ? Also I am assuming that conversion of the Nav and TV is not included in this price, How much to convert these aswell, also the price for the parts I will need (eg. Aus Digital TV Tuner, Aus Sat Nav etc.) I would like to have everything converted together if my budget allows. Good job o the Youtube Videos and looking forward to your reply. Happy New Year and its looking like a Good Year ! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194126-software/page/35/#findComment-5012549 Share on other sites
rs73
well it's for the whole thing, basically for the "license" - it's not a DIY - the idea is to ensure the developers get paid so it works like a software license activation. the TV tuner won't be converted because it's a hardware thing - Japan's TV frequency are different to Oz and thus the chipset in the tv tuner only works for Japan. However chook on this forum is doing group buy on Asuka TV tuner which can receive Oz DTV signal be installed and feed into the factory TV's aux setting. Alternatively in my car I use HiTV tuner. If you have the factury TV set to Aux (choose the OTR source) then you can watch the TV through either the add on Asuka or HiTV tuners. most auto electrician should be able to wire it into the japanese tv tuner's aux input. But you still need the japanese tuner there as the TV screen interacts with it. Nav can't be converted because the map is built using Xanavi's closed proprietary format, which means no other company (e.g. Navman Garmin) made a compatible format that the DVD ROM can read, nor Xanavi Japan will ever make maps other than Japanese map. Easier and cheaper to get an aftermarket unit on the windscreen or either have it wired through the factory TV's aux or do a video overlay but this require a good audio/video expert to do that. Happy New Year too! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194126-software/page/35/#findComment-5012578 Share on other sites
rs73
that said, the englishh conversion translates most menu (except some oem navigation menu which we can't use anyhow) and all the warning popup screen that you often get, e.g. service reminder, low fuel, etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194126-software/page/35/#findComment-5012579 Share on other sites
skygo2xs
Hi Andy, and others, Is there any update on how we can have the jap/english version done in WA yet? pretty keen.....but would like to avoid having to remove the unit and send over east for conversion if possible. rex2ce
Back to the original post here, the salesmans name is Luca, he sold me my car, and also makes a lot of promises that he does not keep, so what does that tell you about his dealership Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194126-software/page/35/#findComment-5013220 Share on other sites

Happy New Year too! Do you control the Aus TV tuner the same way as if you the Jap ie: through the original controls ? And how about the navigation unit I assume that is the glove box so the remote can send it a frequency ? Is it possible to plug a DVD Player & alternative Nav (which allows output display and audio) into Aux inputs on the Aus TV tuner if they have any ? I assume the factory V35's TV has only 1 aux. Sorry if some of my questions seem stupid... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194126-software/page/35/#findComment-5013359 Share on other sites
rs73
no - my tv tuner controlled via supplied remote control. my garmin uses another remote. in passenger kick panel. rom unit in upper glovebox must stay - that is the brain for ur trip computer and tv display. anything should be able to be plugged as aux input - best to ask audiospecialist - my advice can be wrong i'm not the expert i only give example based on how i believe my car setup is Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194126-software/page/35/#findComment-5013518 Share on other sites
