Best Place To Ground The Headunit And Amp In R33?

As per topic, where do most ground there headunit, and there amp(if its in the boot), in an r33 skyline???, why i ask.....because im getting engine noise coming through my car speakers, most likely due to bad ground loop.....or it could be bad rca cable....wat gauge wire rca lead should i get?.....i have 2 preouts on headunit

i have my deck grounded to 1 of the bolts that hold the rubber boot over the shifter. and my amp is grounded to the gold thing in the boot where the battery is grounded!

hey, in the 33 i am guessing your amps are in the boot.

Your rcas would be running close to your battery. As a test listen for the humming while moving the rca cables.

I had to make it so my rcas went no were near the battery and or power cables.

Even if i put it 20cm away from the battery the humming would come back.

Run rcas down the right hand side (from back of car)

ok thanks guys, at the moment my amp is placed on the sub box(behind the box). The box is placed right in the middle of the boot(its a 12" subbox), and looking into the boot, the amp is on the right side - so very close to the battery - maybe 10-15cm.....this may well be the cause of my issues(fingers crossed.......)its wierd though, its only when i put the 2nd set of rca leads into my headunit, when the humming/engine noise comes up....

p.s would a inline noise filter fix my problem? and would i have to get one for the amp and headunit side to fix?does this degrade sound quality?

Well as soon as u put the second set of leads in your drawing a bigger current...

Are your speakers earthed to the chassis at all? Could it be just the lead?

I dont think an inline noise filter will help. Get some expensive shielded wires and that should solve the problem

noise filters are a bandaid. dont touch them. its just adding unneeded components. basically, get some decent quality sheilded RCAs. spend about 5 bucks a pair. that should get you some nice stinger ones. run them away from any power lines or source that may cause interference. ECUs, any computers etc etc etc. it shouldnt matter where the amp is mounted, but id say the noise will be due to a bad ground somewhere. make sure that the grounds are on bare metal, no paint or anything... make sure they are secure... make sure that any RCAs or speaker cables arent shorting out on anything...
