far from it, trust me.

i would believe them. and believe me, i could teach you a thing or 2 about sapol.

honestly.

yeah sorry i didn't want to come off as the all knowing be all and end all of SA law was only talking from experience not book smart knowledge

I got pulled over fri night on marion road and the cops said to me they were jus checkin to make sure this car is not stolen and wat not as the skyline is now the choice of car to steal! And i couldnt be more happy in a way, althought there is the hassel of it there..

Yeh my word, I'm happy as long as they do it for ownership checking, as long as we don't get canarys for it!!! I pulled onto Fullarton Rd off of Cross Rd yesterday to see a coppa pointing a speed gun at me, I looked down and i was doing 70, the cop didn't pull me over but was just telling me to slow it down a bit with a hand gesture! I waved back and all was good! Cheers fella!!

I got followed a few weeks ago by cop for about ten minutes and they finally pulled me over saying they thought my 32 was stolen then went through the engine bay inside and my boot dont like cops but its a good thing in a way knowing cops are out there looking for d**k heads steeling nice imports!

last friday night me and three mates all in skylines were parked near a servo near lofty when a patty wagon drove past saw us did a u turn and pulled up behind us two cops got out and asked what we were doing. they then proceeded to tell us heaps of skylines are being stolen so becareful and then they took down our plates and told us to leave otherwise the next patrol car that saw us would defect us.... ya cant even stand near your car eating food without attracting attention these days.

after the last cruise i went on (organised by sly-dn) i got followed for about 10 min too... the police were driving in an erratic manner, dropping back then accellerating hard to get right up behind me, then would pull up next to me aggressively, then fall back again. (they even pulled into a slip lane at a major intersection to turn right, but then pulled back in behind me)

it occured to me that they were trying to make me panic and do something stupid (which you would assume that someone who stole a car would do). So i drove in the most leagally abiding way that my coilies allow and nothing became of it.

Personally I applaud sapols efforts. There are strong demands on their attention in many areas. and its a good thing IMO that they are focusing on stolen imports (even though it brings a bit of unwanted attention :D )

anyway.. thats my 2c

Hey,

Its getting stupid ey yeah good the cops are out looking for stolen car and all but they should be able to pick it up on there big ass computer screens type in our number plates and tell its been reported stolen not follow us waiting for us to f**k up or tell us we cant be places just coz we drive a skyline, silvia ... etc really pissing me off these days im sick of getting defected and not going place because of it you know what i mean people!

thats all good an well having nice big computer screens but some cars dont get reported till after 24 hrs so by your logics they could potentially miss a crim in a stolen line be cause he knows how to drive nice when he see's Mr Popo and even gives a nice wave and smile

my 2c

Yeah thats true, never nice to here about someones pride and joy getting stolen, its the d***k Heads stealing all these car lately stuffing it up for us, Plus the police pulling us import drivers over for no aparent reason just to make there quoter

Im glad sapol are running our plates to check to make sure our cars aren't stolen it means they're trying to do something about this problem and not just ignoring it.... makes you feel a little safer with your pride and joy... and 99% of the police i've delt with just check my details and comment on my car then they leave, so not all police are out to get us but that said there is also a small group of hard assed cops who think we are trouble makers and deserve a hard time...

I have had nothing but hard ass cops since ive brought my R32 which ive only had for about a month i first time i got pulled over they thought my car was stolen which was fare enough but after finding out it wasnt to go through my whole car then tell me they will be watching me!! i must had a reallly pissed of cop who hadnt had a root in while. then about a week later the same thing (no defect nothing just a ramdom pull over) hard done by i think..

yep i totally agree. On the most part, the attitude that you get from the police, is a reflection of your own. that being said, police are people too so it is safe to assume that there are a few ass hats amongst them that will cain u just cos they need a power trip.

Idiot (maybe a bit harsh),

Picture this scenario: Person parks their car in the morning and catches goes to work. Comes back 8hrs later to find no car. Car could have been driving around stolen for 8hrs and it wouldn't show up on the Police "big ass computer screens."

Same thing if car is stolen in the middle of the night. Anyone on these boards awoken (in the morning) to find their car stolen during the night? Mayhem could have been committed during the night with your car and if Police only stopped cars if they were REPORTED as stolen, then half the stolen cars would not be chased, and sometimes caught...

Use some common sense instead of whinging.

Also, if you are driving your / any car on a road, you are obliged to state your name under the Road Traffic Act and the Summary Offences Act. Argue if you wish. One day you will find out the hard way...

    • All of your suspension bushes/bolts etc, should also only ever be tightened when the car is sitting with full weight too.   IE, jack it back up, shove a heap of stuff down so you can lower the wheels onto so the car is "on the ground" but you have room to get under it.   It's why when properly done, you should be able to remove the shock and spring, but the arms won't go to 100% droop. If you don't do the above, you'll destroy your bushes.

    • These arrived today! Sadly I'm going to probably be smart and enjoy the car as is over the summer/sunny period and save the ~2 weeks downtime it'd take to swap the heads over and tune later in the year. Maybe. It's going to be pretty damn tempting seeing these bolt on funs just sitting in storage when they're ready to go. There's a non-zero chance I end up @The Bogan'ing it.
