Boost Leak Questions

I have a R32 GTSt and was giving the car a tune up. After I was done I thought that I would do a boost leak test. So I hooked the tester up to the turbo and started filling the system with air. As soon as I did the oil dipstick poped out and started leaking air. There were also leaks around the turbo area.

After chasing the leaks around the turbo with soapy water. I found it to be a leaking wastegate. Now I just need to change that or get a new one.

But the main question is. Why was there air coming out of the dipstick? The only thing that I can think of is bad piston rings or something. But the car does not smoke and pulls stong threw the RPM band. The cylinders also have good compresion. 160-170 on all 6 cylinders. oh and there is about 61K on the engine.

When I do the boost leak test on my other cars. I do not have any problem with the dipstick.

So im lost.......... anyone have any ideas.
