hi guys, today i hooked up my electronic oil press gauge. after doing up the sandwich plate(goes between the oil filter and engine) a bit too tight, ive snapped the thread off (the piece that comes out from the block that the oil filter origianly screws onto). has anyone done this before? any rough ideas of whats involved and cost of a replacement?

looks to me like its only held on with a few bolts, but its kind of hard to say.

thanks

Sam

Yes your answered your own question there.

Might have to take the starter motor of to get to all the bolts, there is 3 bolts and one stud/nut usually.

Not to sure about the R33 but on a 26 the engine mount can make it hard to swing a spanner as well.

yeah it wasnt easy to remove hey. worst part was i couldnt even see what i was doing :S

because the oil plate is watercooled, ive pulled off the hose and sprayed coolant everywhere, possibly a bit back into the oil in the block too.

i guess i had better dump the oil and replace it too.

I did the exact same thing to mine when i was putting the head back on my rb25. Ur right its only about 3 or so bolts holding it down with 2 hoses connecting the water cooler bit.

I picked up a spare for about 70 bucks to replace. u may be able to get it cheaper if your keen on hunting around.

really? u pulled the water pipe off and blasted water everywhere?

i called a place today and they said 100 for the part, but they dont think ill need the whole assembly, so it could be cheaper i dunno?
