its based on the greek wind god Zephyrus (or Zephyro in Greek)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zephyros#West..._.28Zephyrus.29

here's how you're supposed to pronounce Zephyrus:

http://cougar.eb.com/soundc11/z/zephyr02.wav

so change the "Z" to "C" and the "rus" to a "ro" and you have Cefiro (Sefu-Roh)

lol I still say Sey-fee-roh even tho I know I'm wrong. I cringe when I hear someone say "nice sey-FAI-ro" tho.

I think my old man has the technique down pat. He calls it "maxima", cos that's what ours is registered as. simple.

i say it like this "s-fear-oh"

heard many combinations, I think I like Maxima best lol

s-far-oh

s-fir-oh

s-fear-a (almost like zafira, crappy holdens trying to emulate jap import coolness)

Edited by daisu

being that it's a japanese car, and a japanese adaptation of the greek god zephyrus (or watever - thx for that one funky=)

anyway

being a japanese word TECHNICALLY it'd be pronounced

se-fi-roh

with no... what's the word, "prominent" or "drawn" syllables

like not sef - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- row

sefiroh

BUT

we're in australia, so it's pronounced sef ee row cos that's the way we were raised to talk like

Wow.... was not expecting that when i opened up this thread

Very insightfull

Thanks

+1 with mr eps, just watch the comercials on your tube that should set things straight

haha yeah ima stick with cefeeroh then haha speakin of maximas though, i saw an a32/33 the other day, i was just thinking oh yeah just another maxima....no wait thats an import maxima, had a nicely styled cefiro badge on the back

So many imports are pronouned different. I won't say 'wrong' because I don't know the right :)

I'll add more. I'll say how I pronounce it and how I've heard it.

Laurel - I say, 'Lorel', heard it pronounced 'Lo-rell'. I don't know if I can write it how it's prouned either properly :)

Trueno - I say 'True-noe', heard it pronounced 'True-enno'.

Levin - 'Le-vinn', heard it 'Lee-vin'

Stagea - I think this is supposed to be 'Stage-ee-a' isn't it...

laurel is an english word... say it as you would in english.

Stagea's origin is Stage-A (advanced stage) so take from that what you will

Trueno is the god of thunder and Levin is the god of Lightning... look up the pronounciations of both and you'll find how you're supposed to pronounce it.

Pronouncing things the way the japanese do is retarded because they're the same people that call an orange an "orenji". They just don't have the right syllables to pronounce latin/english words... besides... if that was the case this would be "su-kai-rine-su" australia not skylines australia.

    • Hmm. Yes. I should have been clearer. 1000s for Haltech, for extra headroom. 725s for Nistune. You might even be OK with 640s, but if the possible power ends up much more than 300 rwkW you will run out of headroom on the 640s. That would probably be OK and a signal to not push it to that sort of power with Nistune anyway. At that level you probably do want to be thinking about engine protection functions. Oh, and all of that presumes 98 only, not E85. Well....the 1000s would allow you to run E85 at ~300rwkW territory, again, maybe sort of running out of headroom. Hard to tell with E85 - depends on the tuner as to how rich they like to set it up.
    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
    • Haltech fanboi reporting in. Buy the Haltech!
    • You can try shoving a borescope down there to see what's up.
