Hey guys,

Just thought I'd put some feelers out. My 2001 AE112R Sportivo was stolen last night some time after midnight. They broke into the house and took the spare keys and made off with the car and my wallet. I'm in Bathurst but it had 3/4 tank of fuel, so it could be anywhere within 400km. Licence plate NSW - BDE-85U

It's a pretty unique corolla, they're the gold ones with the bodykit: raised wing, front spoiler with driving lights, side skirts. Has Sportivo badge on the rear hatch and Turbo stickers on the qtr panels.

It's got a baby capsule in the back seat and window socks on the rear windows. winnie the pooh window shades on the rear hatch and a shrek "baby on board" sticker. It has black with pink trim 'breast cancer association' car seats. (Yes it was my girlfriends car, but I own it, don't laugh)

Anywho, if anyone sees a car like it give me a yell. there were only 100 of these cars made so it shouldn't be too hard to spot.

Thanks

Leshy

Thanks Guys. It's fully insured so if we can't get it back (or it's wrecked) we'll at least get some money back. It's more a pain in the proverbial at the moment as now we only have 1 car which I take to work every day.

TTR FTW!!! Pfftt to sportivo's.

Sorry To hear.. My mother has a 2005 TTR.. Nice cars. Why the hell would anyone want to steal a corolla anyways.

Because its one of only 100 Factory Turbocharged AE112R Corolla Sportivos. Based on the 'Levin' Model all 100 came in Aztec Gold with 15" Corisca Alloys, lowered suspension and a very small turbo, small intercooler added to the factory 1.8 litre 7AFE motor. Produced 115kw from memory and were around $42k brand new back in 2001. (yes less power, slower and more expensive than a WRX) - Yes I'm a sicko for Corollas, was wanting one for a long time but a Skyline was so much cheaper to buy.

Hope you find it and get it back. Its a very rare and nice car.

you could say the same about skylines..

they're worth f**k all these days, but cheap c**ts still steal them..

this car is also rarer than a skyline

Well some good news has come about. The car has been recovered by the Police, and only had a small amount of damage according to their brief inspection. It was apparently being held in the backyard of a house under a car cover. One of the windows has been smashed and our baby capsule we had in the car is gone. We'll get a full report on it tomorrow and work out repairs and so on.

    • Breather for it. If it's anything like the GTRs it should run up to the top of a bellhousing bolt.
    • What basics? With these OBD1 ECUs it's not like the ECU will give you any real clues, it's not really doing any sanity checking of sensors/sensor data. My experience is actually a lot of sensors tend to be the source of the issue first and foremost, and checking everything gives you a direction to investigate. MAF/O2/STFT/LTFT should all kind of make sense. You can try little tricks of the trade like tapping the MAFs to see if it triggers a stumble, things like that. But once you've done a compression test knowing whether you have an air leak or fuel delivery problem is kind of hard to narrow down without sensor data. And you don't really know if all your sensors are making sense unless you can interrogate the ECU directly about what it's seeing for sensor data.
    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
