Item: AMD 5000+ Black Edition

Age: Brand New in box

Condition: Brand New!

Price: $195

Location: Brisbane

Contact: matt (at) supplycrate.com.au

Comments: Bought this for my new computer rig but have gone another route, this is brand new in box. Why is the black edition more expensive than the standard or even the 6000+ you ask? Because the multiplier is unlocked for upscaling! This means you can crank the multiplier up on the CPU without increasing voltage which makes it VERY overclockable! Test have proven it will hit 3.3ghz STABLE with a stock heat sink. Thats FASTER than the AMD 6400+! NOTE that the Black Edition CPU's do not come with a heat sink.

Um question... how can you have the best cpu around but go another route?

.....................

Ignore that question. On a more serious note - do any of the AM2 mobos have DDR3 capability? Caus as much as I dislike amd, I may use this on my soon to be built beast.

couldn't afford to go the way i wanted to go unfortunately :worship:

As far as I know, they aren't any mobo's out for AMD that support DDR3. I belive the new Phenom Quad Cores that are about to come out may support it (don't quote me though) which will in turn mean DDR3 mobo's. AMD has said that all their new CPU's will be backwards compatible (back to just AM2, including AM2+), so whether that means DDR3 for the older CPU's I really don't know sorry. That said, I got 2 Gig of DDR2 which is fine for pretty much anything, not much I know how that would take advantage of DDR3 just yet.

cheers
