My GTST has a Pioneer Carrozzeria sound system (TV, GPS capability, Tape, Radio and Mini-Disc stacker), but after speaking with Pioneer, they don't have a converter for AUS TV stations.

Does anyone know if you can sell these back to Japan? Is there someone around that would buy this? Pioneer said that this system retails as $4200! Everything bar the TV is working, it even has 2 GPS/Street Directories for Japan in it!!!

My R33 has the same Carrozzeria stuff. Pioneer wont help you, its Japanese domestic equipment. My TV works but its terrible reception can only just get channel 9. My headunit works ok, (low FM radio range though). The TV has an AV input so you can connect an external unit/device to it. Mine actually has two. It's a TV-XP7 with a controller unit just below the glove box, behind the carpet. Check if yours has one. If you find the controller box there'll inputs for

4 x Attennas (Single wire 3.5mm plugs)

1 x Sat Nav input (bizzaro plug)

1 x RCA Video IN

2 x RCA Audio IN (Left n Right)

1 x Main output to Screen (Another bizzaro plug)

The screen is NTSC and requires an NTSC input signal. I tested this with a Pioneer home DVD player and connected it via RCA and it worked fine, depsite it being a PAL (Aus) DVD Player. Ill look at getting a car dvd player and trying that. Maybe a cheap Viscom DVD/VCD/Mp3 Player

Thanks guys for your imput. NAM's Electronics in Sydney said that they can convert the whole system to PAL for around $1100, and apparently they've done it before...

PaulR33, thanks mate for info, I'll check my system out tonite.

This unit also has a 12 disc stacker (Pioneer P1200) which, Pioneer said isn't standard with the Carrozzeria model, but I can hook it up to any of the Pioneer "P" series head units... Pity I just bought a new Alpine MP3 player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers guys,

Kyran.

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
