that's like paying for someon elses fuel at the petrol station!

WE ARE :)

lining the govt pockets with tax - so they get free fuel lol

The $27 is what I was charged to visit a license testing station (basically a certified exhaust shop) and see whether it was under 90db. If it is just a noise complaint, they test it, and if its under they write it off and you continue driving.

But the clearance is actually nothing, some other twat can just report you the following week and you have to go through the process again.

Anyway, yes it sucks, no, we can't do anything about it... only possible solution is to vote Bracks out at next election.

so does that mean if u produce that certificate, get yur car cleared that you won't get exhaust epa'd again?

what happens if another copper the next days hears u scooting around and decides to be a wanker and report you again...

do you hafta fork out another test and cert or can you use the previous one and shove it up their asses and say that yur legal??

again it comes back to Vbands - my exhaust system is all attached by V-bands rather than 3-bolt flanges (will try and post a pic tomorrow). I haven't found anyone who can make up these weird attachment things (especially in a 3.7" diameter) and i don't really want to cut up a 1500 dollar Trust exhaust!

u can put a silencer in which may fix some exhausts' noise problem.. but it has to be welded in to be legal.

I'd say, while yes, officially that piece of paper has no bearing once you've driven outside the test place... if you kept getting realed in and there was no obvious changes each time to your exhaust system you could start taking legal action for them wasting your time. You'd need a lot of money or rich parents to do that though ;)

i got on epa test on my previous car for noise levels, and passed. 2 weeks later they sent me another letter of complaint, so i had to get another... waste of time and money!

luckily with this current car, i have a silencer which basically makes it sound stock except for a hummmm..... and i kept the original.... ;)
