hey guys, i have been a rev head and lover of jap cars since i can remember, and its all most time to folk out my savings for a shiny nissan toy.

well, im not to sure on wat model skyline that is best on the road. Or what skyline i should get.

my bro thinks that the "GTS4" is faster then the "GTS25t" cos he says there is no wheelspin wen u punch it off the mark.. he also says i wont "gift wrap" it around a pole..

is this true? will the gts4 beat a gts25t on a quarter run. or is there a big weight difference, because of the 4wd.. is there a big difference in the way they both drive ?

there is heaps of different models or types of skylines.. like non turbo's and gt-watevers.. wat are they and wats the difference?

lol...

um... depends which model you are talking about! R32 is like the older squarer shape, which came after the Aussie R31's that were sold here.. then there is the R33 which is the curvier shape. And then there is the R34 which is back more to the squarer shape, and a lot more modern.

The R33 (or R34 for that matter) did not come in a turbo GTS4, so if you like the shape of the 33, then you're out of luck there.

What is a popular choice is the R32 GTS4 because it has both the RB20DET (turbo) and the 4WD system as used in the GTR's. Therefore a mildly modified GTS4 should be able to beat a similar R32 or R33 GTS-T in a straight line due to being able to get off the line quicker. After that it would be a pretty much even race. A lot would come down to drive skill.

I think the weight difference between an R32 GTS-T and R32 GTS4 is around 50kg.. probably not noticeable enough to matter.

As for handling, any skyline is not going to handle terribly.. but the GTS4 will of course handle better around corners and things.

GTS4 is not fulltime AWD so its not idiot proof, but i guess its a bit safer under all conditions. The 4WD in the GTS4 basically engages power to the front wheel when it senses a loss of traction.

Turbocharging the R33 GTS4 is a common dream, but not as easy as it sounds. Do a search on here, i remember its been covered a few times.

U don't need a 4WD skyline to challenge most of those rexes out there. Few mods on a RWD skyline and you'll be fine :)

    • I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome. Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..
    • They do. The pale yellow translucent ones from Japan were .... I dunno. Useless? Whiteline and SuperPro are probably fairly similar. There's bound to be a range of different hardnesses amongst the dozens of options on the market. The simple fact is that the pineapples don't get up inside the bush at all. They just sort of exist in the space between the washer/bracket and the subframe's bush outer tube, and...exert a bit of force between them? Or something like that. I'm sure that with enough provocation, they will simply allow one to more wrt the other.
    • I'm not sure they came in different hardnesses? Going from memory only - I had set them up in the balanced setup. I also have poly bushes, so I have both poly bushes and pineapples. This is what my memory tells me at least. I'll have to take a look under there to be sure. The tramp was so bad that I managed to eject/kill a diff bushing, so those I know are stock. The tramp is bad enough that you are 200% sure you are doing severe damage to the car. It's not just chirping or vibration, it feels like you're hitting a speed hump/kerb 10 times a second. The issue has persisted between subframes! (I went from Hicas to non hicas subframe and replaced every bush a few years ago now) so I'm entirely lost. Every arm is factory.
    • Can recommend the Frenchys kit, been using it 2 years now with no issue, very happy with it.  Only thing for me was upgrading the thermo fan but I am super fussy on cooling.   Also interested in electric AC, partly for boot mount to have a clean bay and partly would love the idea of cooling off the car before i get in. The battery setup to do that might be tricky / expensive though.  Found this an interesting watch.
    • I put Whiteline pineapples in my old 33, they came in a 6 pack of them, got rid of the axle tramp altogether, cheap, quick and easy install,  they were pretty solid units though...???high durometer???? and NVH was increased a fair bit How hard are the ones you installed?
