Hey guys, im having a headache trying to pick which turbo i want!!!, i want bucketloads of response and torque for the street, and thats basically it, i wont be draggin the car much, and am aiming for a 12sec pass - which turbo is better suited for me?, i dnt think ill go over 250rwkw as a rough goal (+/- a little either way)....

also, are s15 injectors all good if my goal is 250rwkw max?, i heard they can be picked up brand new from nissan for cheap?.....

Im still keen on the gt2535, dnno why - maybe cause i still think they have more response than the gt-rs?.....which is what im going for......only problem is theyre 2nd hand only now - not really a biggie though, someone is selling one here in nz for quite a bargain.

i think it was paulr33 that posted this on sau in a 'kkr' thread a while ago. unsure of how accurate it is, but from peoples accounts/rb25 turbo dyno comparison thread, seems fairly true. obviously the results are going to vary alot depending on supporting mods/tune, but should give you a rough idea of response times.

and s15 jdm spec 440cc injectors will be fine for 250rwkw

you might want to have a look at the compressor maps for the different turbos first.... Known problem with he GTRS is surge at low rpm... the bugger spools so quickly that you'll hit the surge limit early and this will manifest itself in the turbo surging at low rpm.... more annoying that anything else... Again, all depends on what you're looking for - all out whack, driveability or response at low rpm. Consider a 2835 for a RB25 instead :P good for 400+ with 1.2 - 1.4 bar of boost.

HKS GT-RS meets his goal, responsive, they don't surge (although they are a close thing on paper), come on earlier than the GCG in back to back testing and will reach 250rwkw and a little more with cams.

easy decision IMO.

Do you really know what you're talking about? ;)

Regarding the 2835, i hope you're talking flywheel horsepower as there is no way you'll make 400kw, let alone more.

I've had the HKS GTRS on my car and it never surged. I personally think the GTRS is the best compromise between power, lag/response and street drivablity. I made 270rwkw; with cams and head porting.

If you buy the HKS version of the GT-RS (GT2871R 52T) with the port shrouded compressor cover (meaning the RB 6 variant) it shouldn't surge . If you get the SR version and put either the T3 flanged housing from HKS or std RB20/25 on it then yes I expect it would get compressor surge .

Truthfully the hardest bit to find is the HKS T3 flanged exhaust housing , once you have that then any GT28BB turbo with the same turbine can be bolted up . If your talking about the price of a new GT-RS vs a bargin GT2535 then I'd take the 2535 . That way you get the good exhaust housing , can play with the 2535 cartridge and put a new GT2871R 52T in it if its not to your liking . The better turbo suppliers/machinists can port shroud a T04B comp cover easily enough .

Your call .

Seeing as the 2535 isn't made anymore and just about every item you'll find will be 2nd hand...i'd go the GT-RS...you will hit your power goals with that turbo...its also newer technology compared to the "dinosaur" 2535...that said...i run a 2535 on my rb20 and i think its a great unit...can't imagine how much better a gt-rs will be...on a rb25 especially...

I had a 2535 and have driven Al's GTRS (RB25) and the 2535 is a little more responsive (not much) but the GTRS has more top end..

It is just that you would be able to find a 2535 cheaper than a GTRS. So if money isnt a problem id be going the GTRS, if money is an option, then got a second hand 2535

Get some 2nd hand s15 injectors and you should be OK

HKS GT2535 is fine for about 250rwkws, maybe a tad less.

I have both of the above on 246 but the clutch was slipping a tad so maybe enough to get the 250.

(Results in the RB25 thread)

2535 is 2nd hand like you said.

Check the Yahoo Auctions for a decent unit as they're getting scarce

I've got a GTRS and the response is awesome and it isn't even tuned yet, comes on pretty much like a standard turbo. Personally i reckon anything smaller is a waste, fair enough it might come on 200rpm sooner, but really who cares about such a small amount of lag. Go either a GTRS or a 2835 if you want some more power, if you go smaller i reckon you will regret not going something bigger with a bit more potential. Remeber, once you get used to the power, you always want more. ALWAYS!
