hey guys im having issues atm trying to set the ignition timming on my rb25det. the its basicaly all std bar the usual mods cooler, exhaust etc. the problem im having is i cant get the crank set right with a timming light to get 15deg, ive cheaked and reset the cam timming on the via the timming belt as whoever did it previously had it 1tooth off exhaust side.. so now i can get it to 15deg at the crank but its undrivable, its like the car is loaded on a dyno i.e timming retarded alot. now im wondering how this is so? any idea? possibly autodet ecu? bad knock sensor? what are some things that could retard ignition timming even at idle.. in listening to any ideas you guys have. thanx in advance

Some timing lights manage to halve the real timing. So you might actually be running from 7.5 BTDC, not 15.

The most effective way to measure / set timing is to insert a sparkplug lead between #1 coil and #1 spark plug, then set timing the "traditional" way.
