That's the way to do it :)... If you respect them, they will respect you :nyaanyaa:

Unless ofcourse they are from sturt police station (sorry to anyone that knows of anyone that works there lol..) Just the majority of cops i 'have the pleasure of meeting' from there are d**kheads. Got pulled over last night for doing 85 in an 80 zone (up that hill at darlington) dude next to me in a stock VT commo got nothing and he was doing about 95. Cop came up behind me and with those police headlights that shine right at ya, you cant see s**t so couldnt see it was a cop car (thought it was a taxi haha) and tail gated me right up the hill, i waited for the dude it the VT to cruise past and then changed lanes, at which point the cop put his lights on and pulled me over. He said, in his own words 'he'd rather pull over a less experianced driver in a high performance vehicle then an older, more experienced driver in a not so high performance vehicle'. BULL S**T!!! he saw the skyline, then saw the p plates and BOOM, GONE!

So for the next 12 months i havta drive like a granny, get pulled over for anything and BAM, lose my licence, park in the wrong spot and BAM, lose my licence. He said a little red thing pops up on their screens when they do a licence plate check, as soon as they see that, im gone!

Should have asked for his badge number and name, didnt have any proof of speed i was doing except his own speedo - which ofcouse means he was speeding.. His word against mine in court, but yeah, didnt.. Would have got defected otherwise i think.. Anyways, let me go with just that, guess its only a matter of time beofre my licence is gone, should enjoy it while i still can...

Sorry bout the big post just sucks when you see red and blue flashing lights following you :nyaanyaa:

If my experience in Adelade is anything to go by you guys have it tough!

Went over there in my R32 GTS4 to get tuned a few years ago by Donnon at Morpowa and was only there on the road a few hours total and got pulled over three times!

And then my GTS4 looked Stock as, with just a slight lowering so only 20mm gap to top of gard.

And I look old cause I am. :nyaanyaa:

After the second time my wife said ' Oh look theres a cop coming the other way towards us as we are just sitting here in traffic, - bet he turns around and comes after us!"

Yeah right I said, not believing it.

'FLASH/FLASH wah wah wah.... Yes Officer?...

"oh just wondered if you could show my partner around under the hood and explain where everything is and what it does cause he dose not know much about Skylines..."

WTF!!??

when kye got pulled over just down from where you did the cop stepped out the car and was like this is an RBT and vehicle check pop your bonnet.

When kye obliged the cop stood there getting the rbt shit ready and there was a red commo hammering up the hill doing at least 100 in a 70 zone. Kye looked at the cop and the cops response was 'what do you want me to do about it follow him'

i was like wtf ok so he can kill someone driving like a wanker but kye who did nothing wrong gets pulled over and defected

makes sense too me!!!

^^^^^^^

yeh that is bullshit.. they tend to pick on the imports and younger drivers.. in my opinion.. when i had m "P" plates up.. pulled over 3 times.. once in a commo and the other two in my telstar.. so not even an import.. then once off my "P's" havnt been hassled for 2 yrs even driving my skyline.. but thats only every now and then.. in my daily can speed past cops doin 5kph more than the speed limit no worries

and another thing is.. i think that it is how their daily quota is looking.. if they havnt enuff then BANG.. they'll pull u up for anything they can make up

chris

There is a Monthly Quota but this is based on how many persons they pull over, they dont have to book you to meet this quota......but the pricks do it anyways...i know this caz my partner is a cop :D

My 2 cents

Yeh unfortunately for you and me and everyone else out there, cops are exempt under the road traffic act in case of emergencies, so what that means is he can speed if he has a reasonable reason. So when his pizza is ready for pickup at Dominos and he doesn't want it to get cold, he can speed!?

I had a marked car with a couple of young rookies follow my bike a couple of weeks ago along Goodwood Road from Wayville to Panorama but they didn't pull me over.

I think they were scratching their heads and wondering if a 300 tyre on a bike is legal. Trying to keep the thing quiet was another story.

on the way to work yesterday about 7am, i had a cop drive past me in the opposite direction and as soon as i passed him he SLAMMED on the breaks and chucked a U-turn and sped right up my arse then just turned the opposite direction. heard they do this say if you stole a car that u might make a break for it but yeh was stupid and made it so obvious.

never been pulled over, but got done when i was cleaning the car!

a friend of a friend of mine who is a cop! he said the first things cops would look at is your ride height! my car isn't lowered and on some occaisions there have beens cops who drive behind me and just turn off! and i am a P plater

it just depends on what cop you run into that's all!

I have encountered this on numerous occasions in my car... yeah, just dont react and its all good. had un-markers stirring me to race too... lucky i am a law abiding citizen (Mr. Police Officer Sir) and am not stupid enough to fall for ur tricks :P

hope no one out there has fallen for it LOL i would have to point & laugh if someone has

yeah you r right there mate , the 1st thing they look 4 is a`lowered car, i ve been looked at and been parked nxt 2 in a vacant carpark n when they say my car wasnt lowered they drove away, its an easy defect, lucky they dont no wats under the bonnet

thats actually a good idea due to the brightness of criminals

hear about the 16 year olds that stole a daul cab 4x4 from a surf club just for ice creams and chips :P

whats the world comming to when you willing to risk is all for ice creams

mmmmmmmmmm ice cream

meh, I smile and give 'em a thumbs up.

if you get pulled over, tell em how much you admire their work.

swell their head up, make their little piggy brain happy enough to release a few endorphines and eveyone will be smiling

other than that, keep ya car looking reasonably stock, dont do stupid shite on the metro roads, and you should be fine. if you think you have been wrongly targeted, take down all their details, and try to write down (afterwards) the exact line of questioning/comments

    • How complicated is PID boost control? To me it really doesn't seem that difficult. I'm not disputing the core assertion (specialization can be better than general purpose solutions), I'm just saying we're 30+ years removed from the days when transistor budgets were in the thousands and we had to hem and haw about whether there's enough ECC DRAM or enough clock cycles or the interrupt handler can respond fast enough to handle another task. I really struggle to see how a Greddy Profec or an HKS EVC7 or whatever else is somehow a far superior solution to what you get in a Haltech Nexus/Elite ECU. I don't see OEMs spending time on dedicated boost control modules in any car I've ever touched. Is there value to separating out a motor controller or engine controller vs an infotainment module? Of course, those are two completely different tasks with highly divergent requirements. The reason why I cite data sheets, service manuals, etc is because as you have clearly suggested I don't know what I'm doing, can't learn how to do anything correctly, and have never actually done anything myself. So when I do offer advice to people I like to use sources that are not just based off of taking my word for it and can be independently verified by others so it's not just my misinterpretation of a primary source.
    • That's awesome, well done! Love all these older Datsun / Nissans so rare now
    • As I said, there's trade offs to jamming EVERYTHING in. Timing, resources etc, being the huge ones. Calling out the factory ECU has nothing to do with it, as it doesn't do any form of fancy boost control. It's all open loop boost control. You mention the Haltech Nexus, that's effectively two separate devices jammed into one box. What you quote about it, is proof for that. So now you've lost flexibility as a product too...   A product designed to do one thing really well, will always beat other products doing multiple things. Also, I wouldn't knock COTS stuff, you'd be surprised how many things are using it, that you're probably totally in love with As for the SpaceX comment that we're working directly with them, it's about the type of stuff we're doing. We're doing design work, and breaking world firsts. If you can't understand that I have real world hands on experience, including in very modern tech, and actually understand this stuff, then to avoid useless debates where you just won't accept fact and experience, from here on, it seems you'd be be happy I (and possibly anyone with knowledge really) not reply to your questions, or input, no matter how much help you could be given to help you, or let you learn. It seems you're happy reading your data sheets, factory service manuals, and only want people to reinforce your thoughts and points of view.
    • I don't really understand because clearly it's possible. The factory ECU is running on like a 4 MHz 16-bit processor. Modern GDI ECUs have like 200 MHz superscalar cores with floating point units too. The Haltech Nexus has two 240 MHz CPU cores. The Elite 2500 is a single 80 MHz core. Surely 20x the compute means adding some PID boost control logic isn't that complicated. I'm not saying clock speed is everything, but the requirements to add boost control to a port injection 6 cylinder ECU are really not that difficult. More I/O, more interrupt handlers, more working memory, etc isn't that crazy to figure out. SpaceX if anything shows just how far you can get arguably doing things the "wrong" way, ie x86 COTS running C++ on Linux. That is about as far away from the "correct" architecture as it gets for a real time system, but it works anyways.
    • Holy hell! That is absolutely stunning! Great work!!!
