I recently saw a rover V8 in a HJ ute! WHAT THE!

When i asked the wacko about it.. he just said 'cos its different'

I told him about the majic V8 motors from jap land! He was gobb smacked! I think the rover is on the way out as we speak! He was muttering about his mates cousin has a 1U something Toyota thing.. When i told him what that was.. he acted like he was an ADHD kid in a lolly factory! I dread goin back there in a few weeks! lol

Yesterday on the way to work, I saw a Kia Carnival with spot lights that would make a Kenworth proud.. it also had Mack mud flaps and 3 CB arials. chrome hub caps and what looked like a fake carbon fibre rear wing type device on the roof.

Man that made me laugh! Dopey bugger didn't know what 'look' he was after! Lucky he had NSW plates! lol

we wernt buying it lol. my brother started talkin GTT with him..

noel ur old that is all

Your retardness really show through at times. I didnt say "YOU" were trying to buy it, i said "he" was trying to sell it.

Mudcrab you are a f**ktard. That is all. :P

Speaking of f**ktards & all, does anyone know the occupants of a TOTALLY blue R31 4-door residing on the Northside??

This thing had everything but the glass painted in what coulda been house-paint, although I do have a Bic lighter here right now that looks kinda close.......... Had him pull up beside me in moving traffic this arvo & do the std 1/2 length past, fall back & boot it thing. First I thought he was on the clutch & trying to make a real big impression but then I realised the POS was an AUTO & what I was hearing was massive converter flare!!!

Thanx guys, biggest laugh I'd had all day!! The special bus will be waiting for you in the same place Monday...........

bahaha

noel check the SAU classifieds for an orange 211kw SR20 R34

U cant complain to much about an SR20 in an R34. don't forget that the R33 was also released (beyond any sense that i can make of) with an RB20e and auto. Now for those of u reading this that don't know what the is, let me explain..

Remember the humble old VL and R31 skylines.. they were made with the RB30e, well, the RB20e (NOT RB20DET) looked exactly the same.. dizzy, 2 valves per cylinder & single cam!

Top Secret also did a stunt like that R34.. remember their racing Supra with (If i remember correctly) a 3SGTE! Thats a 2L!

I'm not saying its a good idea.. but I've seen worse!

Years ago i saw a 2L combi motor in the inboard position on a boat!

Last year my bother in law had an ex-taxi up on his hoist which he asked me to return for him.

It was painted in 2 tone, blue over charcoal. the colours were bad enough, but the paint had texture.. it was hammertone paint!

maybe not to the tastes of those only interested in jap cars ... but I think this looks pretty tough

quite a few of these running around nowadays ... 500kw+

I guess the difference is the 3SGTE is a good motor...

yeh it aint bad. driven a few 3sgte celica gt4 ST185 and ST205 go well enough.

also what engine does the denso GT500 supra run..? 3SGTE.

i like :)

The 3SGTE is used in the JGTC Supras because they're allowed to do more within the rules - with the smaller engine they can run more boost I think, I don't recall exactly. Anyway they were used not because they're a "better" engine than the 2J, just that it gave them the best chance of winning based on the rules in place.

That M3 is porn, it better not be yours!! Oh and hi Chris :(

If the Merc that i was talking about looked half as clean as this schweeet looking beemer, then i probably wouldn't have started this thread!

Perfectly exicuted mods.. brilliant finish! I want it!

As for the 3SGTE, I beleive it was (dogdy) rules which inspired the boys to go for the 2L transplant. Doing this helped them in many area's like car balance and thermal control and also allowed them to do some other things which were not permitted with the mighty 2J. I have also heard that those rules have since been changed, but I cant say for sure that it is true!

But, SR20 into R34 does not meet such scrutiny.. maybe only from us! Perhaps he should have gone for the Q45 or similar..

yea.. seen that before! had a really stupid cam in it. it was so lumppy the thing wouldn't idle anything under 1100 rpm! but funny as heck when my mate test drove it.. the looks from people at the lights as it 'lumped' its stupid butt off! He never bought it! But he really thought about it!

no, the prize still goes to the Kia.. any better offers? Do i need to add a cash bonus?

1100cc Yahama powered go kart mabey???

I would have thought a Mini with a V8 would have to be up there tho...

Have a look on youtube "V8 mini" there are some funny clips... Imagine a chunky V8 right behind you head...

The only dodgy rules thing I think was that they could run higher boost cos it was less displacement, but toyota used 3s-gte in racing for a long time, it's a really good engine, was used in le mans trd supras back in the 90s too. I think they mostly used it cos they could make the same hp goal (500+) they would have with the 2jz, good torque for its size, lighter and better balance etc.

If you're restricted on power anyway, using a lighter engine with more boost is the way to go :P

Its funny when people dont know who owned what cars :P

Anyway, dont knock Kias man. We had a kia carnival grande as a hire car. They are bloody awesome. All seats recline, cupholders everywhere, 3 zone climate control, a SUB!!! and they are massive.

HAHAH yer we had that bloke turn up to the 31 skyline club dyno day last weekend, though he would be cool and do a burn out as he left, although he failed to realise we had his name and rego from the dyno entry and also quite a few members with cameras out, total retard.

As for crazy conversions, Honda S2000 engines in the engine bays of S600 and S800's, couple of crazy euro's have done this, they fly. the little standard S600 only weighs around 600kg all up

    • As you're looking at using a Link ECU, then large injectors are not a problem. But there's not really any need to go 1000s on an RB20 unless you're planning >>600HP on E85, which would seem unlikely. There are other options for injectors. The Xspurt ones are available from a number of places and you can get them in the mid 600s and 725cc, which is probably a sensible place to be. These are all EV14 based. If you are not using the stock AFM (at all, which would be the case with a Link) then a large turbo intake pipe to suit the ATR turbos is not an obstacle, so you should use one instead of a highflow. Results will be better.
    • Hey guys,  I'm after some advice and this here is the best place to get it imo. I was a member a looong time ago under another account, with a lost email address. Its nice to jump back on and see some of the same names still giving good advice.  I mothballed my car when i moved to perth in 2013, and after getting towed across the nullabor a few times it has officially done more km's on a trailer than under its own power. Now that i have started the process of tidying up and modifying it, i see the fruit available (and the fruiterers selling the produce) is different than back in the day. hence my questions, as i used to 'know' what to get and now, i'm not so sure. Engine wise the car (92 gtst) has a walbro 255, k+n, fmic, cam gears and and turbo back 3"exhaust. Wish list is a Hypergear high flow or ATR43G1, Link G4x and some newer injectors before a tune up. My goals are modest, only low 200's power wise. i know i could achieve this with less, but i've been swapping out old for new where i can. Every cooling hose has been replaced, along with mani gaskets, WP, thermostat and radiator, fuel pump and timing belt, tensioner and idler, and i rebuilt the steering rack. Regarding the injectors, the fruiterers all seem to sell what used to be considered quite large injectors. There are a lot of options for bosch 1000cc EV14's, and i would like to know if that is a suitable choice for my build. Is modern injector design good enough to run these at the low duty cycles that i likely would be? is there a downside to running a too large injector these days? or, would there be an upside to running a smaller injector at higher duty cycle? I can see that there are smaller injectors still available, but the ones i have seen specifically marketed for RB's are pretty large (see: https://golebysparts.au/collections/fuel-rail-injector-kits/products/nissan-rb20-fuel-rail-bosch-980cc-1150cc-injectors-turbosmart-fpr800-regulator-kit), and i dont know enough about them to say one not marketed for RB's would fit or not. I have searched the forums, and amongst all the posts on older tech, I did see gtsboy recommend EV14's, but no size was mentioned... again, i'm not clear on if the smaller size bosch injectors are also EV14's as they do look similar.  also, if someone can recommend a tuner familiar with RB's in the Geelong or West Melbourne area i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys. Cheers, Rowdy
    • FWIW the depth of the groove in the rubber pad is not super essential, the blocks are rubber and squish a bit. If you are worried an angle grinder will make a deeper groove quick smart
    • I mean, if you were to move the jacking points away from the original location, that is, away from the wheels and closer to the centreline of the car, then it will be more likely to overbalance and tip off the supports. Same as we talked about before. I was talking about moving for-aft. If the sill is bent outward or inward, then the car would obviously look unstraight from the outside. Hopefully that hasn't happened either. Again, you can do comparative measurements from the chassis rails to see if there is much deflection.
    • Can you elaborate what you mean with your first sentence? I meant move as in the bulge kinda seemed like it got pulled "outward" meaning it got pulled down and to the side with the jacking rail itself, so the load bearing bulge now sits lower than usual and is not level with the sill on the other side of the jack point. Either that or the jacking rail just got pushed in a good bit.
