Well just went and washed my car at bp payneham....

chamoising away out the back of the servo when this R33 pulls in, dude parks his car near mine, jumps out leaves the turbo timer goin, windows down music blaring and just walks inside no alarm etc the car ran for close to a min before it turned off then about 5mins after that the guy came and got his car....mind you this is out the back of the servo where bugger all ppl can see the cars

Now I was thinking you wouldnt of even have to of known anything about cars, some total dumb arse could of just jumped in and drove away, esp when skylines are the fav of theives

wank factor.

"look at me, my car can turn itself off, i pull teh chikzzz"

i took my turbo timer out over a year ago, and its been sitting in my cupboard ever since.

If it was running on the timer with no keys in the ignition, they wouldn't get too far unless they new what they were doing.

I actually have people ask me why I arm my alarm when I go to pay for petrol or do something really quickly. How hard is it to press a button on a remote to engage and then later disengage the alarm/immobiliser vs coming back and finding your car missing and then explaining to the insurance company that the alarm wasn't on (or having to lie to them and they check with CCTV footage).

what are you gunna do once the steering lock kicks in?- pull a heli 'till the turbo timer cuts the engine?

How can ya still drive away with a turbo timer off?

I thought once you put it in gear or put the handbrake down it immobilised????????????

Or is there a way to hard wire it in??????????//

once the handbrake is released or the car rolls, engine cuts

if ur going for some spirited driving, well surely ull have some time to warm down until u get to ur house, or to the next place u stop.

turbo timers really arnt that helpful, and only cause issues with alarms and SAPOL.

alarms, steering locks, turbo timer etc....if they want your car they'll take it.

alarms and immobilizers are easy to bypass

standard steering locks snap with a sharp jerk of steering wheel.

it all comes down to luck at the end of the day.

I saw that in a movie too. modern cars don't use cast lugs as steering locks, they have hardened steel pins doing the job.

irl it's more common to have the earth lead of your alarm ripped and ignition punched with a large screwdriver.

Still as everyone knows the more visual deterrents, alarm.led, sticker on drivers side window and a big clublock.. the less likely your car will be picked.

They did this with mine when they stole it, snapped the part of the ignition that joins to the steering column at the same time. Got my ignition out with a massive truck wrench, which i now keep in my toolbox (they got caught and it was still in the car) - Got sumthing out of it.
