Driving fast actually does save petrol,

unless you're coming up to a red light and still doing 70km/hr until 50 metres before it.

So I tend to accelerate faster than normal and go 5-10 above the limit unless overtaking

also shifting to neutral when going down steep declines helps a little :P

So if I drive 42km to and from work then it means I make 14 mistakes everyday?

Doesn't sound right to me, I mean even Mr Bean doesn't drive that bad

I bet you do with out realising it.

Things from missing blind spot checks, not indicating.

Even pulling up in a turning lane with out an indicator.

Following a car too closely.

The funny part I found, was that those who'd held there licence the longest (Or, greater then 1 year on Open licence) were the most likely culprit for running up the back of someone, why, they were over confident, and following too closely.

And accelerating as hard as you can DOES NOT use the least petrol, but neither does the absolute putt putt, the best point is when you are running at the most efficient RPM with the right amount of throttle.

To work this out, you need to monitor your duty cycles. As simple as that.

meh, i still like my limiter in 4th...

Yeah, even moderate acceleration is best.

And I dont make that many mistakes. Yes I am sure of that. That is the average.

The other funny thing is, most males rate them selves as a better then average driver... :)

Also, limiter, in fourth, on a public road, daily driving. You're a f**king nut and deserve to have your car impounded permanently.

did i say public road?

did my last post have something do with hitting the limiter on cold startup as a joke?

would one assume that i was "might" be joking about 4th gear limiter?

i have never had my car impounded, winding out 4th generally ends the pursuits...

I know. Im a defensive driving instructor :woot:

BTW, its most people. As a rule people think they are above average.

True that... if you think your fast... prove it on a go-kart track. Even better yet... buy a fast one and see how many corners you last.

On the street... the occasional squirt to the speed limit doesnt hurt....

I dont speed... just get to the speed limit pretty quickly....

coming onto the freeways it best!! :woot:

especially watching guys with s15's comming onto the freeway from btown. I was comming back from visiting some friends out in the hills and some twat with 20" steel rims on his bright yellow s15 thought he'd hammer past me come across my lane and into the freeway lane. This guy must have just watched fnf or something.. i was crusing along @ 60 just thorugh the intersection at lights when i heard his dose on gear change passing me with the misses smilling and call him a retard... after he basically got into the on-ramp of the freeway directly infront of me. long story short he was either trying to drift up the on ramp or just plainly lost it but we could see his tail swing out then come right around.. i was on the anchors but we werent that close to him so we got to see his face, misses out the window calling him some names etc an me doing something similar.. he stuck his finger up an proceeded to reverse to straighten up.. behind us many a car beeping etc an swearing at the white line.. (me) to f**king move etc. im steemed and the dumb twat couldnt get his shitbox onto the road.... he was single spiining an going no where fast... up the hand brake... yup... pushed his front bar in helping push his car out of the way... doh.. (my bad) mind he or boyfriend never got out of his car so meh.. back in the line and wasted a months worth of rubber pissed off getting up to speed to the freeway... misses was luaghing her ass of for a solid half hr at me helping out the twats... she still brings it up...shame....

I drive daily. I don't leave my car to sit there and warm up for 5 minutes, it's a waste of time... I get in it and drive it.... however, I wait until water temp is > 80c and oil temp > 70c before going near boost. I'll hit boost most trips as I usually drive to work which is 40kms away, it's not like it's damaging anything to do so :P. I also make sure I service my car every 5000kms without fail.

mine warms up for a minute. i then drive under 2k until temp is normal as i can't stand the flat spots of running rich and retarded.

what does my head in is if i drive under boost (<3k), my clutch is an annoying bitch to drive with and the car feels rigid.. whereas if i change over 3k she wants to get up and going all the way to limiter. i guess i can change over 3k with half acceleration, but who wants to waste valuable boost? :P

gts-4 dreamer...

I'm really not sure what happend to you or the S15...

Hey GTST, don't you find you get a better result when the room temp is around the 83.25 C mark. I find that with 80 it really doesn't do the car justice.

I actually disassemble the entire engine and soak it in alaskan mountain goat blood before I drive it... whatever works for you I guess.

Drive my car just the same as the family car (05 V6 Camry) that is:

-Normal acceleration

-Auto changes gears at around 2.5k to 3k rpm

-At or ~2km/h below speed limit

-Always stop on yellow light unless past the safe stopping distance.

In other words I drive like my parents, enough said...

Only thing different with the R33 compared to the Camry is now that overtaking the odd truck (who doesn't want you to overtake) is a lot faster

:D
