again no comment.... absolute rubish...

i love this part:

"The legislation will provide for the car to be confiscated and used in crash tests if it is involved in three offences over a period of five years."

and...

"Police will be given the power to strip licences on the spot and offenders can be taken off the road for 12 months."

and wat the f**k does this mean???

"The anti-hoon package also includes a wheel clamping program, where cars are immobilised and dumped in their yard at home." i dont get that???

lol, don't forget the defect laws :whistling:

Personally, i have no interest in racing off the lights or burn outs. I don't mind a spirited drive but since starting to go to the track regularly i haven't felt the urge all that often, and even then, the car is broken from the track outing so i can't :D

Good on you Dave..

We all know you silvia drivers well ex silvia drivers.. CRAZY! :D

I wonder how they are immobilised... If it is just the clamp, that would be easy as piss to cut off... And I'm sure any way that Mr Iemmas goons try to disable the car can be quickly found and undone by the minds of SAU...

Also, I don't have a front yard capable of putting my car in... It's garage or nothin...

LoL makes me think of the number plate i seen yesterday VSHOON

and i dont think it helps when almost every family car these days has atleast 200kw and they dont mind using that as 1 of their main selling points in their commercials. And do family cars really need to be turbod or a 6L?

and you know how you see front bars/rear bars of cars lying on the side of the road(well you do around here anyway)

left overs from knobs trying to drift/and or street race/ do burnouts whatever. It's funny how import cars like ours are first thought of when the word 'hoon' is mentioned, but those car parts are 99% of the time HOLDEN parts.

weird hey.

Since when do burnouts feature high in the list of things that kill people in this country? Street racing is bad though, although personally I don't see much wrong with it up to the speed limit only. I'm open to being convinced otherwise as I haven't put that much thought into it.

Mate, Ill remind you that some comments made here are read by anybody. (I think these are your words)

As for the answer just maybe you would think that's something wrong with doing a burnout on residental street when screaching tyre noise (v8 ute) wakes you up and smoke fills my house at 1am o and my 2 kids get out of bed to ask and wonder whats wrong? I just say another idiot has nothing better to do while trying to get his number plate in order to report the kocksmoker.

As for the laws that's just politicians way of fixing things in order to satisfy public outcry nothing else, However some honest drivers like most people on this forum will get caught in the middle of it. Someone already has posted that feeling is I'm worried about just driving a skyline.

dave

Burnouts in residential areas are definitely annoying; but so is "police discrestion" - in that; you may just have a problem grounding power or hill starting, or a slippery road... and you can now get penalised worse for it. yay.

I don't quite see the problem in quickly getting to the speed limit either? Means less people tailgating to make you go faster typicall; and you have more room to merge because the traffic would now be behind you... maybe if you're actually racing somebody, etc. different story. Things are more likely to go wrong or get out of hand in such events.

Yeah i found that while i was in melb for work i found it far easier to get around and change into the lanes i wanted if i just took off a bit quicker and left the others behind. Because i am from the country i dont realy always know where to go etc when i am in the city. And i find it far harder to do anything when you are stuck in traffic with the rest of the mob. If you slow down u get in everyones road and people keep cutting you off. But if you accelerate faster off the line and leave the mob behind you get far more time to think about what lane etc to be in.

Has worked for me to date without fail.

I'm pretty sure Abo Bob knows what he's saying concidering hes one of the Admins... And I agree with his comment. HOWEVER NOT SO MUCH RACING UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT VRS ANOTHER CAR... JUST SINGLE THRASHING

Might as well all go sell out imports, or deregister them and put them in the showroom... and lets all go buy Toyota Priuses. At least we'll be keeping everyone happy and also the planet... :P

IMO these laws are going over the top, 9 months imprisonment for street racing? its worse than armed robbery or rape... the government must be smoking weed.

I think although there are good intentions behind the legislation.....its bound 2 cause controversy. it seems that you cant b an honest hard working young person these days with a car especially one thats turbo.

Any person that has a love for such cars and enjoys this as a hobby is labelled a hoon. Would the government rather I spend my money on drugs and alcohol and thus become another troubled youth let down by the system (or so they say).

I work hard, I pay my taxes yet because of my car, my age and a copper on a power trip I was able to be issued with $180 parking fine in a legally parked area (even indicated by signs) with the copper refusing to speak to me as I was next to my car but proceeded to take a photo of my number plate and issue the fine in the mail days later. I had tried to fight this but to no avail was greatly let down. This is just an example of what is to come.

I feel (like many others that have already stated) that I'm a target and feel criminal without even doing anything wrong.

I think the media is to blame for the hype and hysteria that surrounds young drivers on the road and it seems the governement has fallen for this hype too.

I fully agree that repeat offenders who endanger the general public should be apprehended and dealt with but does the innocent car enthusiasist have to go down with them?

i could write an essay on this topic with all the pros and cons haha, its fair yet not fair. some cops will abuse it some wont, some people who deserve to get pinged will, some people who dont deserve it will also. this legislation is fair if used in the way that it is meant to be, but unless they get specific with how much acceleration warrants "racing" or how much time your wheels spin warrants a burnout it will be abused by a policeman with a power trip or who has just had a bad day.

funny how we're on the topic of young & imports.

Every single time I get pulled over in business attire, cops are extremely nice to me, don't question anything twice and usually just give me a RBT, but all hell breaks lose on the weekends when I'm not in work attire. I get addressed as "son" and most of the time told to step out of the car, show my engineer's certificate, etc.

What's the story here? I think it's amplified because I'm asian, and drive an import.

There is no way i would want to sell my skyline, if you drive sensibly on the public roads, and appropriately for conditions you would have to be real unlucky to be the innocent victim of an overzealous police force.

The last couple of times people have annoyed me on the road(tailgating) i ve been in a sh*tbox i borrowed while my skyline is in the shop-so f*ck the prius. Even if your doing 5 kms over the limit some wank in a 6litre falcadore wants your piece of road anyway. No one seems to want to get that close to my bumper in the skyline maybe they are worried about the cable ties holding it on.

my point is everyone gets stereo-typed for the car they drive, and the media is always going to play on these stereo-types and in turn the police are pressured to act.

knowing this government ...........and these cop these day

they will go on You tube and find people ripping burnouts and try to arrest them.

It all depend on how hungry they are.

    • Update: Tunehouse looked into the problem and identified a wiring issue between the camera unit and the connector. They managed to get it working , but did warn me at some point it will stop working again. From their perspective it is unserviceable and will need replacement. They did some research and found that the new replacement camera would be Approx $1400 supply only (their fitting cost would be $190) . They did provide the part number (28442-JL05B) and a quick google of the part number shows that these are rather expensive brand new (seemingly no longer in manufacture) for the places that still have them in stock, with the used option potentially presenting  the same issue down the track at some unknown point. They are happy for me to supply the part so that they can fit it. Decisions, decisions... I can definitely recommend Tunehouse (thankyou Vee37!). Cost for the diagnosis was as quoted  ($190) , car was ready on time and communication was top notch. Their workshop is super clean and modern, and there was plenty of car candy parked out the front on the day I went.   Would definitely go back.
    • to fix the voltage drop issue I swapped out the old 150amp alternator which turns out is a brand known for having issues and replaced it with the black 180amp alternator beside it
    • For anyone interested, the Way Back Machine has that Japanese website archived with pictures, etc: https://web.archive.org/web/20051023225805fw_/http://www.a31cefiro.com/air_con.htm "Simply swapping the wiring of the harness will not allow it to function properly. For the outdoor air sensor and sunlight sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN1-11 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. For the indoor air sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN2-3 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. The connector PIN numbers listed here are the genuine A31 PIN numbers. To avoid incorrect wiring, check with a tester before wiring. Also, disconnect the wiring in a location close to the sensor. The disconnected harness side wiring will not be used, so be sure to insulate it." Wish someone sold a conversion harness to just plug-and-play a Kouki 180sx digital climate control into C33/A31. I'm decent with wiring but feeling kinda lazy about taking this on. Edit: Did some more digging and found a helpful Minkara blog post about the conversion as well: https://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/1831116/car/1360568/2284209/note.aspx "After installation is complete or the battery is replaced, you need to go into self-diagnosis mode and set the internal air recirculation. The way to do it is to "hold OFF with the key on for more than 5 seconds, set the number to 5, then press 卍→C." ↑↑↑It probably won't make sense unless you actually try it (・∀・)." Lol wtf
