Thats right guys mine hasn't been stolen but just some handy tips i use to make it more difficult for a thief/thieves to steal your car

now with all the talk about houses being broken into and cars being pushed out of drive ways there are a couple of simple things you may want to be aware of.

1) Thieves don't care how long it takes them to steal your car they can move slow and quiet if they think there going to get your car

here are some pictures i think are the do's and dont's of parking in a non lockup drive way

DONT

Don't leave room around you car so that multiple thieves can get a good grip to push your car out the driveway they normally work in groups of 2 or 3

over these summer nights its nice to leave a security screen locked with the front door open DON'T leave keys in it that have your car keys and alarm FOB on it

DONT leave your keys in the kitchen on a Tidy key rack system thingo

DO

DO park as close to 2 fences as possible this way the aforementioned thieves have nothing that can grip onto and cant get a good extension push of your car only having one side of the car to push is very hard

even consider making a chock to push under the far wheel to make it even harder again if one method fails

If parking next to fence or wall means hopping out the passenger side then by all means consider it as pushing on the passenger side would make steering even harder

DO have a clearly visable Flashing LED, DONT have alarm stickers stating XYZ brand of car alarm

I hope this gives everyone something to think about when parking your car and where you store your keys

as pointed out another good deterant is the good ol fashioned Club Lock

Just to add to this:

PLEASE get a quality alarm /immobiliser! Our insurance rates will be effected by all the Skyline thefts of late. It amazes me people who will spend $1k on a stereo but whinge about shelling out $300 or more on an alarm.

PLEASE get some insurance. Fire/theft is not that expensive. Search around. I know some people struggle because of a poor driver history or lack of $, but the amount of uninsured cars that have over $10k of motifications is stupid. Delay one mod to get insurance first.

If your place has more than 1 car then park the other one behind your Skyline- especially at night when neither car will be moved for 7-8 hours. This means that the theives will have to move it first and thus increasing their time, noise & therefore risk. I know that this is inconvenient but less so than waking up and finding no car.

To drive your car right up to a fence or wall inflate an old water bladder or wine cask t0 about 3/4 full with air and stick it on the fence/wall at bumper height. This way you can touch park without damaging your paintwork.

For those who are tech savy perhaps sensor lights linked with some CCTV on your car. If it is stolen at least you may get some footage of the theives.

Just afew more ideas

-Unplug your ignitor pack

- Unplug air flow metre

-If you have power fc and comander set rev limiter very low ie. 300rpm and keep controller next to where you sleep

-keep axe near back door so when you do catch them attempting to steal it you can run after the pricks :P

-Also big german sheppard helps as a deterant lol

yes, also crank angle sensor plug on most cars is hidden by fmic piping, unplug and she'll never kick over.

I had a kill switch mounted wired from that....I agree...it didnt go anywhere...Also running another kill switch off the fuel pump is good too.I do know that you can buy another kind of club style lock but it goes onto the pedals so they cannot be pressed...but i dont know who makes it...anybody ? ...I also had in my skyline. ( came with the car ) a security feature where a certain screw or metal object had to be touched at the same time of turning the keys otherwise alarms would sound and engine immobilised...I would love to know who makes that one...it was awesome !! anybody know who they are ?? I want another one soon

Ah crap whiplash.. who you with? Just car insurance??

yeah not happy premiums gone up $150 and the "agreed value" has gone down 2K!!!! need to start looking for a new insurance company i think.

we don't have gates so i find having a Territory, Mazda 3 and a Hyundai Getz parked behind helps keep t in the driveway.

And i have the added security that if someone steals it they will only get 50M down the road before it breaks down :P
