Hi people....

Im not sure if this is a warning to everyone or im being paranoid with all the thefts lately....

As you may or not be awar i have my 34 for sale, standard thing advertised but with no address just a contact number. Anyway, early this morning i got an SMS from a person saying im after a Skyline GT is it still avaliable.... i corrected him saying its a GTT and he wanted to know the cheapest price, we negotiated via SMS and it was agreed, next he wanted my address, now i dont give out my address, i meet somewhere common, so i suggested the local red rooster carpark..... he carried on for a bit saying he had to work and so forth and wouldnt finish till 9pm, he still wanted to come to my house and asked for the address again, I said i dont give out my address and i would only meet in a common place, he then said that he had cash and really really really wants my car. i then said again to meet in a common place, this is word for word what he replied

"sorry, it's a big deal anyway, i have to see the car and your place as well to see if its safe for me to buy"

I just replied, "Good luck finding a car"

Cheers mate was what i got back.

Just thought i would get opinions and use this as a warning just incase someone wanted to sus out where you park your pride and joy!

Justin

yeah u gota watch out 4 ppl like that, i had sum1 contact me 4 car parts and wanted my address, then i looked at his profile and it looked fake because there was no details bout him or his car at all

+1 for dodgy as mate. If he really wants the car he will be more than happy to meet you where you want. And surely you would negotiate a deal over the phone - not by SMS. Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy. Don't lose any sleep over this one.

dodgy!

but if you do want to make a sale with him or you think he just might be lagit... use a friends or family members place take the car there for the hour if he doesnt show take it home.

This is probably the best idea on this thread.

Consider for a minute if this guy was legit (and I'm not saying that he was in this instance because of the SMSing which is pretty sus), if I was buying a car and the seller wanted to meet me in a maccas car park to do a deal, I would probably be a bit sus about the seller.

The friends or relatives home is probably a good neutral zone for both parties.......nothing more tacky than handing over wads of cash in a public place where you get all sorts of idiots that may be watching.

agreed, when i bought my car i met the guy in a public place to have a look over the car and picked it up from his place the next day... but for someone who has not even seen the car to say i'll come by your house with cash is a little sus.

not to mention how keen he seemed pestering and pestering and then when you said "goodluck with finding a car" he didn't put up a fight or anything, not even a compromise at all. very suss.... there needs to be more awareness of this problem. dont trust no kent.

SSSUUUUUSSSS K%NT should hav said ull meet at his then seen wat he said, iv had same thing right now tryin to sell mine but i dont even wast time just tell them how it was an then yeh most went along with it.

i just said hey soz cant meet at mine as to many of these are goin missing an nothin against u but dont now u from bar of soap so dont trust u to now were me joint is meet 2 suburbs over in car park they were happy with that

Maybe post his mob number for others selling their car or is that against forum rules?

DON'T DO IT!!!!

Regardles of whether it's against forum rules or not, by posting his mobile number and branding him a thief with no proof, you're opening up a can of worms called 'litigation' which cannot be closed that easily.......you just don't need anymore aggrivation right now.

Maybe if someone else is getting similar messages from interested buyers, you could compare mobile numbers off this public forum.

Isnt SMS kind of a 'normal' thing for young people these days to communicate? Selling my previous car I recieved a few SMS... its usually the time wasters/dreamers that does it though and the ones who are really interested actually calls up and request to inspect the car........

yea its normal, between friends....if your genuine about an item, surely your keen enough to ring the person, why not ring them, gives both of you a perspective of each other instead of uncertainty, confusion, mixed messages etc. geezz its not hard.

CORRECT.

definately sounds dodgy,How can he say he wants the car when he hasnt even had a chance to see it or hear it running ?? I know when I bought the GTS4 I had I met the guy in the main street of newtown.I knew he lived close but...who cares where he lived. Why is it so important for him to see where you live. Be very careful when selling, as they get to see all your cars goodies...If I had a dollar for every ridiculous question I had when I sold my car...A guy wanting to swap his Supercharged MR2 for it ( as if )...others just wanted to know how hard it went...etc

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
