Hi Guys and Girls

I have just test driven a really nice 97 Stagea today and really need some advice.

Now i have already got a SII R33 and this will be the family car :( (it was difficult work talking my wife into it) and I have had a really good look around the car and it is in fantastic condition, inside and out. 54K's on the clock an dit looks and drives like it is brand new.

It has 17 inch advanti's (running 235's) Biestein suspension, 3 inch catback exhaust and pod....

now the question is, when i was test driving it, in second at around 4400-4500rpm(in power and normal) it seemed to suddenly drop 200-300rpm before continuing onto near the redline.

Is this normal behaviour with the small mods and an auto gearbox??? Or is something not right????

also the air is buggered, but a re-gas should fix that.....

the car drives really nicely apart from that.

Thanks

Joe

you haven't said wether it has a boost controller, but that is probably all it needs (Or, a SAFC and a decent tune)

Sorry

standard solinoid... Which makes me wonder as I have my R33 running a turbo-tech boost controller running 7psi all day and it neveer does what the Stagea did.....

Also it wasn't obvious that it happened in 1st gear, only secend..... And it was very obvious :woot:

if you DO get the stagea stick another turbo-tech boost T in there.. makes it boost up much quicker

That was the plan :woot:

Just want to make sure that there isn't a major problemn with the car first

are you going to buy it?

they are an awesome family car... my wife hated my selling the V8 and buying my 97 stag (her sight unseen)

the little dip you talk about is 'normal', a little piggyback SAFC will fix if for sure - just do the performance mods at once then tune it. ie finish off the dump pipe, fmic, fuel pump, boost to 10-11psi, tune safc.

:nyaanyaa:;)

first gear stays at 4.5psi, second is 4.5 til 4500rp, then goes to 7, same for all gears except first

Ahh.... I see..... Well that makes sense then....

Thanks gentlemen. Appreciate the feedback

^^^^ Yeah i think that i am going to get it. Very very clean example

Hey Joe... so you got convinced yeah???

+1 to the family wagon!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea why it is doing what it is doing... mine never did.. but i replaced the stock boost solenoid before i did any exhaust or induction mods so my situation was never identical to yours. What about taking it for another test drive, putting a boost tap in your pocket, pulling over, whacking the boost T in, giving it a good strap, whacking it out again and then returning it??????

...or is that just dodgy and bad... :) - sorry...

HAHAHA

Yeah I actually thought about that Chris.

I don't know why it would be a problem on an almost stock stagea though... I mean if the thing was highly worked, I could understand it, but it is hardly modded at all.... Feels like a torque converter issue to me as the car really bogs down.

But I don't know, which is why i am asking for help :ermm:
