it doesnt matter what kind of motor vehicle you drive

the police will do just that - police their surrounding area. fair enough, thats what they do.

however, if your vehicle draws attention to yourself, then accept that the powers that be may raise an eyebrow and watch for any little reason to pull you over

Im glad I have a stagea, it looks stock and while looking nice doesnt draw undue attention, I believe

It also comes down to how you present yourself, both on the road behind the wheel, and to the officer(s) if you have indeed been asked over for a question or 2.

Ive had a bad experience with an old scottish policeman and his young prop.constable. Pulled over, 5 cars in total. 2 went on, 3 stayed so had 5cops walking around me

3 left, these 2 stayed and frisked me, searched my car (presumed stolen Vp; my dads work lease car, i was 16.5), told them there was weed in the boot (lol)

couldnt understand the old scotish highlander and the young punk was just that

I refused to sign the black book they recorded everything into (it made me sound like a tool), went to court, and had everything thrown out by the judge. There was no proof for speeding (80 in 60, I said yes I was over the limit, 2am Hackam West Cottaeg lane back road, wide, no lights). I was followed thru the back roads (hills, where my parents live) with highbeam right on my arse, I had no idea they were police, I figured hoons out to beat me and pinch me old mans car (went out for ice coffee and cigs).

The backroads are gravel, so I drove along the wheel tracks (middle of the road, like all 100% of traffic up there does) with them up my arse in high beam. I lost them over the big dipper on Kimberlys Road (lol, I love that big dipper, heard from my old bedroom and seen so many accidents there, haha), or so I thought lol. lghts everywhere.

I took photos of the road in question (dangerous driving, and driving with undue care charges, speeding was dropped as no proof) and showed to the Judge that I in fact had done nothign wrong, and i was dismissed. the Prosecuter was red in the face and the Judge put him in his place. Oh lol I didnt swear by the bible; when asked I said Im antireligeous but swear to tell the truth. lol

had some good times too, riding thru the hills for 9 yrs every weekend, never pulled over. Got no-noed once (one finger wave " no no") but that was all, in all those years of high speed action.

But whatever happens, if youve done wrong and been caught then face it. as simple as that. I dont ride anymore, I didnt want my luck to change. With my car, it looks stock, I drive it like it is stock in most areas, but give it a whirl here and there. if it gets looked at so be it, but there s far hasnt been any reason to look at my 'girl. Got the Stag

mate you ought too get pulled over just cause you are damm ugly at least wear a brown paper bag over ya head so you dont scare small kiddies and frighten dogs :P

  • 1 year later...

depends how you drive, what you look like (if you look young, or abit rough(no offense))..

if the exhaust is too loud, in which case you could change up a gear so its not reving as hard if possible..

ive only gotten pulled over once and that was because i was doing 24 kays over the limit (oops(regret getting that fine))..

but other then that ive been followed many many times, i think the cops just check your rego, etc..

if your driving and look hell sketchy/trippy/suspicious, then they will pull you over.

also depends who is in the car with you and what time your driving..

but then again, why do we drive 'sports' cars if we dont want to get pulled over? why not drive a holden or ford if you hate getting pulled over.

and as for defects, cops can and will defect you if they want even if your car is stock.

my uncle got his bike defected because his indicators were too high (they were stock) so he had to get them custom made abit lower and go through regency..

RIMS DO IT!! I got pulled over for having rims but the cop was admiring my stock kit ride and white starcorps!! WTF Ive actually never heard of a cop pulling an import over to admired it. lol until it happened to me. (:

I haven't been pulled over in the Stagea much (mostly breathos and cruise meets when I'm with the cops), but my bikes certainly get alot of attention.

Been pulled over on the Brutale alot. Even got an interest to buy it from a copper. :)

Nice thread ressurection by the way :P

    • Got the motor out and torn down. I'll be dropping off the block Monday. Luckily the scoring on Cyl6 is much less pronounced then the pictures made it out to seem. It can barely be felt. If you pass your finger over it 10x you'll barely notice it. Hopefully by some chance it will only require a honing. I'm not in the mood to buy one size larger pistons or another block. Oddly enough my 6th cylinder with the scoring has extremely clean intake valves compared to my other 5 cylinders. I'm worried the scoring was caused by too much fuel or Water/Methanol washing the cylinder. I'll review some old logs to confirm.  This was also the first time I pull an engine with the transmission still attached. It went much better then expected. I was worried my CD009 wouldn't make it easy due to its sheer size but it was much easier this way.
    • From the pictures I have when doing the job the flywheel is the same diameter, I don't think they're playing weird tricks like putting weights at the outer diameter to increase flywheel inertia or anything like that. The OEM flywheel is definitely heavier, but it's not a huge difference. Quoted weight savings of the clutch is 2 kg so I can't imagine the flywheel being lighter than ~7 kg. Kind of regret not weighing it before the clutch went into the car but as far as driveability goes I have no complaints.
    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
