hi guys,

I've got turbo back system on my 32, they came with the car when i bought it.. the problem is..... they are way too loundddd

so, I've got very very tight budget and dont wanna spend big $$$ on the new cat back ..

- what would u recommend? I'm after quiet one and also good for performance

- should i get the new cat as the same time? (old cat look abit small and too old)

cheers

Saying you'd like it quiet and one good for performance isnt narrowing down the requirement, as they're the two apposing attributes every one wants. Slike saying, "im not picky, but with my coil overs, i would like em comfy and smooth, but also tight and controlled through corners" or "want my turbo with no lag, and a blistering top end" and you better belive the setups that ARE close to being perfect... def not cheap.

Depending how tight $ it is, a vaughly decent 3" cat is $180-$300,(and a sick 5" - $500) then just pick your cat back setup. Theres many thread on this, though everyone has a different idea of "loud"

To have the best chance of making the right choice for you, going to a drag night, or track day, or local Fri night cruise, where you can ask ppl bout setups, is the best bet.

Just go get an entire X-Force exhaust system, chop off the hotdog and get a good mid muffler welded on.

I'm using a St May's 3.5 inch cat back exhaust approved by JASMA, man my car is probably as loud as a stock R32.

Have a look at this,

haven't used on so couldn't say how well it works

but seems a good idea

Varex Exhaust

He did say budget? and that Varex exhaust restricts flow when on silent mode, same as those exhaust valve controls.

I do believe he wants performance as well as reduction in noise

IMO, good mild steel mandrel bent cat back exhaust with a good mid muffler and a good rear muffler.

JASMA approved ones are usually very quiet and should conform to the Australia db level (which is fcken gay, because stock V8s make more fcken noise than my car and I don't see them with defect stickers, bunch of fcken hyprocrites, I hate the RTA......... sorry about the rant)

    • For a daily just run Akebono ceramic pads. That's what they're optimized for. Obviously don't try to run it on track or anything like that.
    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
