How did Nissan "make sure of that"?

They will, by selling the car here themselves as a full volume car. If it happens before June 2009, then they will never be eligible for import under SEVS. They got caught out on the S15 - they won't make that mistake twice...

Doesn't stop people thinking they can bring them in and get them registered apparently :domokun:

Hilarious... FOR SALE, LOW KILOMETERS, ONLY DRIVEN TO CHURCH ON SUNDAYS :domokun:

read further down... If you’re just as enthusiastic but not looking to break the bank then maybe this is what you need. Genuine R35 GTR badges! Perfect for rebadging your R32 GTR or R33 GTR or Daewoo if you are that way inclined!

Like them snap-on tools tho... oh and the GTR is sexy as hell.

no muppet's bringin em into the country unless it gets listed on the SEVS list first... even garage13 and his pioneering S15 compliancer.

Kristian, I thought you'd have made an application? You're usually on top of these things.

All shit aside I was offered one brand new under personal import, with paying for the car up front and my mate a few grand (quite a few) to make it worth while it would owe about $120,000 to $130,000 plus rego which is a lot of money tied up for 12 months even if they are not imported by Nissan Australia, but in saying that if I could get away with my wife not finding out I would.......

On SEVS eligibility my understanding in short form is Nissan Australia give a 2008 release date, once date officially comes about it does not mean stock is available but it is a full volume car, also for some tests needed their are other options these days that will make it viable for Nissan to import it under full volume.

Dont be suckered in by these backyarder's or wannabe importers as remember these guys are the same people who said you will never get cheap GTR's which is why so many got suckered in buying rust buckets and they also said cost of compliance will be out of your reach.

If some fool wants to pay me $30,000 for doing nothing aside from forwarding a few email's drop a line to [email protected]

Having a bit of trouble convincing Nissan to waive the 18 month wait to make it eligible under SEVS, for some reason lol.

In all seriousness, Nissan stalled on bringing in the S15 and a very smart operator snuck in the early ones, which is why we now have both import and local models available. There's no way in hell Nissan will make that mistake with the GT-R.

My agent in Japan is willing to do one for around $130K too as a personal, but by the time you wait for one to be delivered (currently a 3 month wait) then 12 months ownership and all the stuffing around, the local Nissan GT-Rs will be available anyway...

No doubt a few will appear here next year under race/rally though...
