Desperate! In Need Of Engineers Cert.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and girls. Well to cut a long story short im another one on the list to be pulled over in my skyline (r33 gts-t), bent over and f*ked! On sat night i was at knox minding my own business gettin cash out of the atm and sum drinks with a mate and a unmarked VE cop car pulled me over right in front of the police station on burwood highway. It was the one and only officer petit (however u spell it, cant read it on the notice).

Neways, i got defected for cooler pipes runnign through a hole in the body, epa'd for pod and a list of fines such as high powered vehicle on p plates and my rear p plate had fallen off, so they got me for that to.

Im now in desperate need of a engineer to pass my car to get this defect off. Ive spoken to a fair few from the VASS list on vic roads website and they hav either said they dont do cars or they wont pass it after i showed them some pics.

Can sum1 please tell me who they used to get a engineers cert in victoria. Im desperate!

did you cop 3 demerit points?

change the things on your car which are defected, go to any mechanic with a RWC license.. and get it passed.. easy..

with epa, you will haveto return ur car to complete stock

The only people that can give you a VASS are the people listed on the VicRoads website.

So if they say they wont touch it as is, thats how it is... and looking at those pics, i can see why as i've had engineers explain it to me in long discussions :D

No Engineer will ever sign off a chop job like that mate.

Anything that goes through there is not passable due to untested effects on air bags.

Time to get it properly welded up and the cooler properly installed.

i think any qualified engineer wont risk their licesnse to pass something that is obviously illegal. it aint cheap either i think. technically your car is deemed illegal hence the reason why the ones you have spoken to have knocked you back. your gonna have to pass the emmisions test which by the sounds of your mods you might not?

id say you'd have to make your car legal again to clear the defect. dunno about hipower for P's though. maybe someone else with experience can answer that one.

ive got a low exhaust pipe that i might have to re-weld to clear my defect. gotta do what you gotta i guess.

Look mate, here's my honest opinion - just spend the cash and get everything done right then get a legit RWC - this is what I have done... I've taken my BOV off, put my stock airbox on etc and now everything is good - for some sound etc, I really can't be bothered about getting defect notices... go stock as this is the safest and long-term fix... not worth it mate...

Good luck - I know it sucks... but get it fixed now...

As above

I doubt you'll get one anywhere, modern cars are a monocoque design...meaning every part of the shell contributes to it's structural integrity, with built in crumple zones to lessen the effects of any impact on it's passengers. Unlike older cars which had a full chassis.

Sounds over the top but that's how an engineer would view your modification to the inner guard.

The advise to return it to stock is sound advise, even better would be to get a car that's within the guidelines of your licensing restriction.

You might not have even got pulled in a 32.

ive got one for you....what if i owned that car,got pulled over and got done such as yourself. But instead i decided to unpick the skirt that sits between the rad support and the coil support and buy a new one from nissan and respot it in??If you have a major front ender and bend chassis rails and a panel shop gets paid from an insurance company to change the rails they dont make you get one of those reports......i would be argueing that

Petit got my mate for the FMIC pipping in his S15 the same way.

He got quoted quite alot to get it fixed and to get the engineers cert. To be honest mate, if you live in the area, petit is on any import cars ass, and he researches his stuff so he knows whats dodgey. I grew up in that area, and youll be lucky to get away with anything even slightly borderline. Sell the car and get a R32 GTST. Or return it to stock. Even then you will still have power to weight issues and the fines can go up to $1k now from memory, so not worth it.

PS: Ive actually had Petit come out to my house when there was a BBQ because there was too much noise. Several modified imports sitting out the front. But everyone was drunk and noone was driving so he didnt even bother. Lucky for us.

he can be an absolute ass from what i have heard, but he is just doing his job to the letter of the law mate. If your gonna be risking the safety of your car by doing bodgy jobs you gotta expect stuff like that to happen. Just get it fixed up and away you go

Not too sure about the too powerful. Do the r33's fall under the p/w ratio?

R33's do. A standard R33 GTST is over power/weight for P Platers. You can get either an NA R32/33/34 or a R32 GTST.

so basically you have no chance bud, you license will be gone quicker than you can imagine if its 3 points and a $1,000 fine. Just think is it really worth paying $2000 in fines + the cash to fix your car up to standard plus losing your license?

Maybe sell up for an N/A or a 32 gts-t?

Next time our good mate petit see's you (if he remembers your car) expect to be pulled over and raped again!

p.s if your car IS over the p/w ratio you should have lost your licese anyway shouldnt ya?

no p plates = 3 points and over p/w = 3 points?
