hey guys, i was wanting to experiment with making a frame the same size as a panel filter and covering it with a nylon stocking for my airbox. (which has a CAI pipe)

do you think i would get dust particles flowing through? would the stocking be tough enough to withstand the intake pressure? would it seem like a safe idea?

your thoughts..

I had a datto 180B when i was 16 and it had piece of cloth over the top of the carbie it went hard for a week or two, I think all the oil that was coming out the side of the block was the problem........ I would never do this on my skyline, how much does an air filter cost???

Try stretching it over the box then putting the lid on, I can't see any reason for building a frame.

I've no idea how effective the stocking would be, I suppose it's all down to the thread count or microns or however they rate the stuff.

i personally dont think it will provide enough filtration...look at how dense all other filters are compared to a stocking

well that's what i'm scared of, and i don't want to try it incase i cause damage.

i got the whole idea from a vlt owner, which was saying alot of people wrap the end of their fullhektik "dose" pipes with it to catch dust.

has anyone had any similar experience with this?

that alone should tell you that it's a bad idea
