are you turning the wheel lets say before you turn your engine on for any reason? i ask this because my car did the same thing to me a few times.... i tried turning the wheel while engine was off and when i turned it on and started driving... all of a sudden the steering wheel decided it had a mind of its own and as you said... you had to counter to try and dive straight.... then as you said... turn off the engine... then on again... and it was fine....

Ages ago ( i mean ages too )

i unplugged the hicas cpu at the rear of the car...

and i blocked off the feed from the steering pump...

buy a hicas lock bar.... its a lot cheaper a far less headache.... but be wary... some that are out there are absolute shockers.... buy the right ones

good luck.....
