R33 GTR owners= can you give the GTS-T owners here some indication of what they're missing out on, comparison wise? For both stock and modded variations of the models?

I've owned a 33 GTS-T and 33 GTR and I was surprised as to how much better than GTR is to drive. I mean, I know it's not a fair comparison, but even cruising around off boost, they feel quite different. The GTR feels a lot more tough and weighed, but doesn't feel that heavy.... certainly feels huge though, due to the lower seating position etc... it feels like a massive car but I love that, you get confidence from it.

GTS-T's are still great cars though, no doubts there

I'd say it's worth the upgrade though. I always thought they'd drive quite similar, I was pretty surprised when they didn't.

yeah driving an R32 GTSt (moreso an R32 GTS4) and an R32 GTR from the inside feels quite similar... if anything the GTR's a little nose heavy and goes a little quicker. The AWD isn't *that* noticeable in an R32, so driving the GTR isn't that big a leap in control, only power.

But when you go to the R33, the difference between an R33 GTSt and and R33 GTR is immense. It hugs the road better, isn't as twitchy as a GTSt and best of all its actually carries its weight well. The R33 GTSt is a great passenger car, but not a great sports car. The R33 GTR is a great sports car.

I think R33's (t's or R's) are the easiest to do aesthetic mods on. They only need very minor simple things to look great, and IMO they look poxy when they are done too much.

Exactly!!

This is how mine looked when I bought it:

DSC08728Large.jpg

and I've been lucky enough to be able to turn it into exactly how I think a 33 GTR should look (although thats just my opinion):

The only things I think 33 GTR's need asthetically:

Clear Indicators all round

Ganador mirrors

Possible a vented bonnet.

GOOD wide rims

Lowering.

The weight difference is really not an issue as the wheelbase suspension geometry and the diffent speed of the attesa makes most of the diffence between the models hence the different driving styles . As far as the weight is concerned it may not be that much different if aftermarket wheels have been fitted light or heavy and if stereo equipment ect a standard 33GTR would be the same weight or lighter than a R32 GTR with some stereo gear and some heavy after market wheels(generaly cheaper wheels weigh more than the stnd wheels on a GTR). But I strongly agree that all the models have good and bad points.

I agree with that. The weight is not the determining factor in how the car drives. But at least it's been established that the 32/33 are both different to drive hard.

I'd say it's worth the upgrade though. I always thought they'd drive quite similar, I was pretty surprised when they didn't.

I think most T owners who are GTR virgins will think the same.

I find that the nose weight of the GTST will be better handled if the front wheels were driven too. I can see how ATTESA makes such a huge difference to how the T and R both handle at speed. My GTST handles well but if i don't corner with skill it isn't that mind-blowing. When i've taken corners with precision (exiting the apex with tons of speed) it's bloody quick, but when i take corners willy-nilly i almost begin yawning.

mate you made a good choice buy putting all the stock gear back on your car

+1 That looks heaps better in retro-form

But that goes for any car. How many Toyota Crapolla's and other Jap cars have prowled the streets with ugly kits and 1cm thick exhausts that have a massive canon on the end, sounding like a swarm of cheaply built bees. I once saw a 4-door R34 that had a kit so white and so square that it looked like a box of tissues :D

Brocka's - looks great now mate, done good! (better than the soarer too :(:D )

I've always wanted a GTR, only ever driven 1 though, and it scared the absolute shit out of me - Morgs old 375rwkw 32 GTR...first time I ever experienced all 4 wheels go up in smoke!!

I guess to go for a propper drive, I'd need some corners, or hell, even a track to experience the trueness you could say! :( Although I do agree with Omar here..

Ok i'm scared to test drive a 33 GTR...i do believe that's the end of my financial future

If I were to go a GTR, the 33's certainly do fall now within my budget, although some out there dont look agressive, yet some with a few simple mods (i.e. brockas, TJAndrieson's) look tough and thats what I'd have to do.

However, Im just going to stick with my povo pack GTSt as I love holding the tail out at Oran Park :D

haha thanks mate! Yeh, it's a massive leap from the Soarer to the GTR.

I think you should make the jump as well  The first time you feel that ATESSA pull you out of a corner on the track ALL the money is worth it hahaha

Speaking of ATTESA one of the memorable quotes i found on SAU was two guys discussing (i think) the difference between GTST and GTR drag racing. One dude just replied "when you take a GTR to the strip and rev it up to 7000rpm and dump the clutch...then you'll know what GTR is all about."

*Sigh* :D

But hey, how the f*** is that good for the car...i don't know...

Legend

Haha!! only cos i have no idea what the kws are off the GTR...... yet! lol. but its just about stock as and yet cant help but think its faster then the gtst as is!

Hell yeah that is a nice job you did there, the first pic was not good.

i must say, an r32 gtr is always the best looking for me but considering the age and price, I had no choice but to grab an r33

In GTR form so no complaints here!

here's my contribution, past 12mths the car/shape has grown on me :O

gtr303loweredgf4.th.jpg

its been photshopped at the moment to lower the car as im yet to source some reasonably priced coilovers ...hopefully in the next couple of months

all im after now are some rear pods and a ducktail

exhaust is being put back next week after a nice letter from DECC in Dec07

maybe the front lip needs to be black but the rest is satying as is ;)

IMO - the R33 GTR looks the toughest... it's no boat if you mod it right... the R33 is the sexiest, hottest and most aggressive looking Skyline... if I had the cash, I would definitely get a R33 GT-R VSPECII. R34 looks nice too, but the R33 is street-wise looking - tough!

Hi mi name is valentin i living in dominicain republic and i have a nissan skyline gtr r33 bncr33 year 1996, i have a questions for you or for someone what is the diferent between GTR R33 MODEL AND GTR R33 V-SPEC, because i have a GTR R33 and sorry for mi english i don't know to write very well thanks for all....

Heh the GTS-4 is a bit of a pig compared to the R32 GTS-t and GTR, weight of a GTR and power of a GTS-t. You should post up a thread here and on GTRCanada of your car. I can't say that I've even seen it. :P

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
