So, I'm driving to work this arvo... and as I'm crossing over Drakeford Drive (on O'halloran) a van coming down Drakeford doesn't stop at the red light and almost t-bones me.

It had been red for aaaaages so he wasn't even "running" the red light - he just went straight through like it was green! I'd say he was doing about 100km/h.

I'm feeling very very lucky right now.

Anyone else had a near miss?

The current favourite thing I seem to get is the vans pulling out of a side street in front of me with out looking, or people thinking it's a good idea to chuck a u turn in front of me over double centre lines, and then they slow down wondering why I honked my horn at them. :P Is my car invisible or something? Has happened to me about 3 times in the last week.

How about the #$%!@# queue jumping w@nkers going from city to Belco of an afternoon who stay in the Tuggers lane until the last minute, whack on the brakes and push into the Belco lane without warning... even if you're ready for such antics... the poor bugger behind you puts the wind up you as well.

Happens every single day. I invent new swear words every afternoon.

I had the nearest miss ever a while back... Frink will confirm this on.

On a "spirited" drive out at the cotter with a few other Skyline driving mates, we were all overtaken by an idiot in a Ford Laser TX3 turbo in one move on the wrong side of the road (double lines too).

This naturally pissed me off, so at the T intersection a bit further down the road Luke (Frink) caught and over took the Laser, I decided to follow Luke and teach this Laser a lesson (blind corner) but the problem was that Luke knew what was coming on the other side of the road and I didnt... When we got passed the blind corner of the intersection I was side by side with the Laser going about 80kmh and headed straight for me was a Land Rover with a big bullbar!

Luckily the Laser and I both moved over to our left and so did the Land Rover, we went passed each other 3 cars wide on a 2 lane road...

Really dumb move I know, I almost had to hit myself in the chest to get my heart started again. :ermm:

Please don't make posts about you doing 190km/hr on a public road, really not a smart move.

although very frustrating they are allowed to pull out whenever they want, you have to give way to them it sucks balls...

actually.... they are only allowed to pull out with right of way when they are pulling out from a bus stop. Otherwise, the normal road rules apply for all other situations - The problem is that they rarely give enough warning, blinker on and move out at the same time and they are so into the habit of pulling out that they expect to do it all the time, even when not pulling out from a bus stop.

I'm with MIVEC on this one; as much as it pains me to say it, but "might has right". This rule will never apply to Commondore drivers whose rides are heavier than mine...I shall not bow down on that front!!

Not really a car related near miss, but just the other day I nearly stepped into an ants nest, on a double take it turned out to be a swarm of bees, i'm so glad I was watching where I was going or I wouldn't be typing right now.

I have not had any real close misses. I've got the occasional cut off when I'm inside a round-a-about. One time I had to completely stop inside a round-a-about because of this. Not sure exactly on the street. Mason in Turner I think..

The guy waved though, knowing he was wrong; but he could have atleast looked lol

When I was leaving the round-a-about this bike rider..decides to not look when going accross the road. I held my horn on; he didn't even look. It was very close..

One thing I've noticed when driving on highways...it seems particular on the Monaro highway traveling to Cooma and on the way to Bega. Van drivers always tailgate me for some reason lol

I've had like 5 people do this to me, last time this guy in a Van was tailgating me. Extremely close; and swerving left to right behind me. When I got into Cooma; he overtook myself and 3 other cars on the inside.(There isn't even a lane here, it's just the side of the road.)

I'm usually driving speed limit and not doing anything wrong, no idea why Van drivers seem to be most common with this.

It can be quite funny though :(

Only near miss I've had was my fault. When i first got my license (pretty sure I've posted this before) i was a complete moron. One night I was driving way too fast for the conditions and thought i was some amazing drifter or some crap in my hyundai accent, I came flying around the corner of Mckillop and O'Halloran at about 80km in the rain, slide up the gutter and came to a stop between a gum tree and a concrete light post. No idea how i didnt hit anything but i wish i had... might have learnt a lesson instead of crashing my old skyline.

New near miss a few minutes ago. Was riding around on my dirt bike chasing kangaroos (as one does) out of the forest section of our property and got blinded by the sun as i came out, didnt see the fallen trees and rode straight into them at about 50km. I panicked and squeezed the front brakes on and came off forwards/ sideways (diagonally i guess) and almost impaled my face on a thin tree stump. Tore my legs up nicely though... Fun times

I was driving to Sydney one night, after work. It was pretty late and i was a little tired. Not about-to-fall-asleep-at-the-wheel-tired but on my way. i went through a red-light in the middle of Sydney; just did not notice it and neither did my passenger who was more awake than i.

I was so lucky there was no-one in that intersection.

Stop revive and survive in future i think...

Yep, HATE that. I've had a few near hits: Was also nearly rear ended twice in one day while in my GF's car, once by someone simply tailgating and not paying attention at a critical moment, and another was waiting in the slip lane to turn off Coulter Drive left onto Benjamin Way, this guy came thundering up behind me like his ass was on fire and drove straight past me on my left cos there was nowhere else to go. That's just from the past 2 weeks and what comes to mind ATM.

    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
