Clutch Linkage Broken

Clutch linkage finally gave up yesterday - the following bit dropped out the bottom of the engine bay. The thread at the end has sheared off - looks like it may have been overtightened.

Raining too hard to get out there today and have a look - but does anyone know exactly what it is (R32 GTR)?

I guess the ball end pushes on something!

it looks like the pivot ball that your clutch fork sits on.

So I guess the whole damn gearbox needs to come off to replace it yeah?

UAS have an upgraded one that looks a bit stronger.

yup u need to pop the gearbox off the motor to get to it. It looks as if that one failed due to a manufacture fault, not a mechanical failure...

The upgraded ones uas sell are used because the ball end normally snaps off. Id be looking into why that one seemed to snap off at the threaded end first before replacing as well.

The fact that it snapped down the thread leads me to believe that maybe it was not correctly tightened in the first place

It has worked itself looser then snapped.

Mine snapped at the ball end, sheered it right off. Replaced it with one out of a Serena gearbox that was lying around.. looks like a heavier duty item than the one in my RB20 box (the Serena one had the taper up to the ball whereas the stock one didn't).
