hmmmmmmm... just thinking y u would think a piece of machinery that has been moving up and down billions of times could never break down, loose its seal...

i dunno... engines seem to go up and down millions of times and not break down that often, unless you cane the fark out of them.

other than the excess noise creation, the other downside to having an Atmo is that you have to overcompensate your idle so as not to stall (hence the retunes and idle adjustments being suggested).

At the end of the day, the factory BOV is just a gas valve... most are built to last years of repeated use. If you want one to hold the pressure more don't bash your BOV in, just put get one with a stiffer spring rate (some turbo diesel ones for example) or a reducer in the recirculation tube.

(Spunky Munky) are you running a pod filter? because you said you were after 'suction noise' and as far as i know BOV's don't make suction noise.

Hey Tai, yeah that's the weird thing... I do have a nice Apexi Power Intake POD Filter sucking via a AFM. But for some reason, with an atmospheric BOV it has the nice suction sound and the sshhttt 'blow off' sound - whereas with a stock plumbback - nothing, just a very soft blowing sound and that's about it... Why is this??

Any suggestion?

just get a metal enclosure for the pod........I have apexi pod as well, and its sealed in a metal enclosure I made. I thought it would quiet the nosiy bastard down but noise wise, it was probably slightly louder. On the bright side, should run cooler air temperature.

as for the phssst, I got plenty of that...........even the pidgeon flutter sound.....all on my mad hektic stock bov.

Genuine HKS SS BOV $400

HKS copy BOV $150

Having stock BOV and still manage to sound as sick as the cnut next you....................PRICELESS

Hey mate, help me out... how the heck did you manage this???

I want the nice ssshhttt sound.... man, seriously.... with the stockie, there's no longer a nice Sshhttt let off sound....

Damn it....

I think the point everyone's trying to get thru to you is that the noise you make due to the air being recirculated into your intake by a factory valve, has more to do with a pod and intake pipe material/surrounds than with the actual recirc valve itself.

Hey fellas, I am going to install a Greddy Emanage onto my car next month and get a full tune - was wondering if a tune would make a HKS Atmo BOV work with stall? I really like the sound and responsiveness of the HKS BOV - but was wondering if it would still stall?

Cheers.

Too easy, your on the mailing list ;) Its sent out on the Thursday of every week.

Fellas, I have decided to go for this BOV... I had a similiar one and it worked fine as I'll go 50/50 - never lagged before.

Was wondering, if I have an universal adaptor for a R33 (the one that looks a bit like the link below)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/28MM-NEW-TURBO-BOV-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Would the following BOV bolt straight on or will I need anything else?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...A:IT&ih=024

Can someone please confirm the above?

Thanks.

wtf is a Mars BOV? Do you really want something regulating pressure in your car that seems to be made of recycled coke cans in a third world country run by a military dictatorship?

stick to a known brand and lay off the ebay garbage. we don't want you starting a thread a few months down the track goin "omfg, my BOV imploded and chunks of it went into my intake/turbo/intercooler/engine".

Hey fellas,

I'm new to this forum and have owned two S1 Stageas but no Skyline..funny that.

I have encountered the same issues with an Apexi twin chamber atmospheric BOV and Sard R2D2.

I did some intensive research and did the trial and error thing, that nearly got me committed to Graylands.

All that is said above is true and the way I found a good reliable fix is to buy a SAFC-II or neo and up the deceleration air setting to +1. This could also work with a fully tuned aftermarket computer or even a HKS EIDs. Depends how far you want to go with tuning and what you are willing to spend. It also occurred on my GTiR, but used the HKS Eids fix..much cheaper.

Everyone wants a series 2 manual and Perth is a ripoff, Queensland is getting better with S2s & M35s but what about the lesser fortunate people on a budget with S1 auto's!

This is a great fix for Stageas and I am assuming on R33's that don't want to go plumback-I stand by it, gotta luv the signature noise!!

By the way found an M35 six speed manual the other day at auction..interesting as well as pricey

    • Happy new years folks! Wishing you all a successful year of money pit ownership!  So the subframe bushes are out....   Ok, who else has done that job before??  What a C U Next Tuesday of a job that is!  Be glad to not do that again in a hurry! I think I explored every option available to chop the middle section of the bushes out, most of them unsuccessfully! I dried a holesaw, die grinder, normal drill bit, air chisel, etc, etc. The true success happened by accident when I'd decided to try a step drill I spotted on the bench on the way passed.  See, there are benefits to never cleaning up after yourself! It RIPPED through so so much better than the drill bit. It has to be the skinniest one available so its small enough to fit between the inner tube and outer casing but it made easy work of it.  First one i hammered the shit out of... New method- 20250102_185506.mp4     I did the other 5 in less time than I fluffed around with the first one. I used the cut off saw (sawsall as the yanks love to call them) to cut a break in the casing. Even with that they're still a prick to hammer or air chisel out.  The last few i just went rambo with the air chisel without cutting them. I overcome one of the early ones so will hit the with the mig to fill the cut then sand it off smooth.  The carnage left over-   I've also been "nesting" ie, cleaning up my babies nursery,  ie cleaning the f**king pig sty of a shed. I've got that much shit laying around it's as cluttered as my head!  Getting things put away, in boxes, on shelves, hanging off walls, all to get some working space back again.  Hopefully that keeps me motivated....
    • AFAIK does the base map for Haltech even have the 4D compensation enabled? It's been a while but when I looked at it I remember it was actually using pure TPS as one load signal and MAP for another. Seemed workable but not ideal by any stretch. A lot of people have "make the event-itis" which leads to stuff like this happening.
