Hi all,

Now iv just fitted a R32GTR Front bar on my GTST. Changed the reo bars over so its fits etc etc. However, i know the guards are thinner on a gtst compared to a gtr, but iv seen GTR bars which fit almost perfect WITHOUT GTR guards and im wondering just how some people have done this. I have tried adjusting the reo bar but all this has done is make the bar fit better in the vertical direction. My trouble is with the guards, where the bar sits too wide on the guards. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers David

if you fit gtr guards on the front, the whole car will look odd.. i wouldnt personally reccomend it. i have a standard gtr v spec 2 bar on my gtst, and it fits up perfectly. by the picture of yours, it looks the same, fits up fine, really cant see whaere the problem is? i dont use a reo by the way, i dont see the point, you hit something, your going to hit it, who cares about a reo.

The reinforcement bar does its job quite well actually. And another thing you're risking is getting your insurance voided for not having it in.

Sorry that wasnt my car i was just showing an example....ill put up a pic of how mine is sitting tommoro. I currently have the GTR Reo in there atm with N1 slots cut out which is why i cant see why it doesnt fit rite.

Bezender where u located...probs best to pm bout this stuff...talk to u soon.

if you dont use the reo, teh bar sags in the middle as you cant attach the middle mounts to anything. And besides that, the reo bar is made for smaller hits. Without it one of these smaller hits could do substantial damage which could have been reduced using a reo bar. Id rather have mine there than not.

Here are the photo's i sed id post. See the first one is the drivers side and it sits almost rite but still outside the guard a little. The second one is the passenger side and there is a serious gap. Last one is the vertical fit from front on which is about rite however i reckon i might move it down a tiny bit due to the indicators being a bit hard to get it with it sitting that high. How have people managed to get their sides lining up with the guard with genuine GTR bars ona GTST.?!?!

BTW Scuse the dirtyness of the car-it rained last nite haha

i know! thats what i mean i cant work out why the gaps are so big! I talk to salad on Msn sometimes and he rekns he just put his on and it was ok. BUt surely there is something i cna do to at least improve how it is atm. i was talking to bezender and his bar is actually further back past the wheel arch (i.e. the end of the bar extends slightly into the wheel arch area so that the guard and bar clearance for the tyre arent even. But the overall fit is almost perfect. But i cant see how that would work on mine as the holes on the bar (at the top for the attachment to the reo) lineup with the holes ON the reo.)

you have to shorten the reo's length if you want it to sit properly.. the secret is the mounting points at the indicators.. you have to mount the bar there first.. the "wrap" it to the car from there.. so to speak.. goodluck. they do fit.. you just need to know the sequence to putting it on.

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
