what did people think of it?

common theme was commodore's not performance cars, i agree with tough laws for being caught street racing though.

anyone think TT would do a non-beatup story if someone took the Lakeside case to them to follow up?

TT and ACA are only interesting in ratings...

They would do a story about a little old ladies scone recipie if they thought 500,000 people would view it...

You will always see a re-occuring theme with these shows;

1. Hoons

2. How to shop smarter (getting stuff cheaper)

3. Loosers who do bad stuff

4. Good feeling stories

5. Council stories (beating up on a local council cause they do something wrong)

No because motor sport is bad and will encourage and show people how to do It on the street remember..

I have a contact at ACA, the pro car scene storys dont rate very well. As most still believe if drive these cars you must be a hoon.

i would like to see what these reporters drive in and have they ever actually gone on a ride along with these so called hoons? i would offer my ride in a second to escort one of those hot little reporters for a night on the town then they would see ratings, but i guess they just dont have they guts to be real reporters and get all the facts from both sides...

i agree with col.

if u search youtube for past tt and aca hoon story's, PARTICULARLY ACA.

they sped up the images so they were 2x as fast.

i thought it was suss when people were walking REALLY fast.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=PAlGBe6ZZok

as u can see they have dubbed it at 2x as fast. they are shameless... i wouldnt call them journalists.

but sensationalists!

Most of the Joe Blow public, cannot tell the difference between a hoon and a car enthusiast! simple. ;)

I would be more interested in testing their (TT/ACA reporters) driving skills against some of us 'hoons'. Now that would be a story!

put the car into a spin.. watch them totally freak out and do something that is fundamentaly wrong like let go of the steering wheel!

watch them screw up the whole indicator thing on round-a-bouts and laugh like a little school girl when they try and reverse park!

Every story told is all about the perception of the content of the story. Use the above as a guide, it would be very easy to make a story about useless reporters who are a unable to properly control a car and should have their licence revoked!

enough of glamourised reporting..

I think repeat offenders should loose their cars.. but not chrush them. Sell them! And cut up their little bit of plastic for a year!

On the other hand, if the government were really serious about this (instead of just making $$$) they would build more places like burnout pads, race -tracks, skid-pans and stuff to help get the idiots off the street. This approach will only remove a certain amount of 'hoons'.. as for the rest, book them!

I agree with most of the new laws, but I'd like to see some shithouse-reporting laws brought in aswell. ACA and TT should definitely have their cameras confiscated for a few months, their information is absolute batshit, ;) .

haha yep. in relation to incorrect facts and shithouse stories:

1st offence: court appearance and loss of cameras for 24hrs

2nd offence: court appearance and loss of cameras for 48hrs

3rd offence: court appearance and loss of all cameras...they are the governments property now.

and if on slow news days info is stolen off youtube:

-instant confiscation and loss of broadcasting licence for 1yr.

thats the law that i would adhere to :)

if only we had footage of aca or TT people being "hoons" now that would be a story or maybe how cops are hoons as well ie speeding on main roads and freeways, stories or shall i say facts that are blatantly ignored or have no media coverage on. That would be the ultimate fight back tactic on these so called scenarios....

just my 2c worth

If only there were murderers and rapists and thieves and law breakers in this country so these people had something of importance to report on...

Or to arrest but the focus is on road deaths.

I guess the gov and community just dont realise that.

i really dont see that the road toll is too bad. considering we have 22mil people.

if the money was put into fixing the roads, the toll would decrease.

but its all perspective, people seem to forget that. 'oh no 1 person had died out of 22mil people', now lets double police presence..wtf/

http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2003/s989559.htm

now if our figures are bad. China kills over 90,000 on its roads, but we dont hear about that .

its all a bit confusing

It is interesting that more people die on an 'average' weekend in the USA from car crashes, than we loose in a whole year.

Now, factor in that alot of them don't wear seat belts, have a higher drink driving percentage (0.10%) and the sheer number of people on their roads. Sure they have air bags..

now look at Japan!

Please don't trust me, check it out! The difference isn't speeding, or road quality (which does help), but car numbers!

The Japs use alot more public transport. USA relies on their roads.. What are we doin?

Hoons don't help the numbers.. or with the politians!

Y'know something, it's on almost a daily basis that I have to take a deep breath, bite my tongue & not respond to some of the things I read on here but there's no way I can let this f**ktard comment pass un-challenged.

The aforementioned 3 generations were killed because the 23yo superhero that was driving the Commodore that they were killed in lost control whilst overtaking, the trailer that the Commodore was towing jack-knifed & threw the car into the SIDE of the prime-mover, ending up in a chewed up but not spat out mess. SO in this case it wasn't the truckie at fault, but the deadshit car driver......

I used to make a living driving trucks, I don't anymore after becoming sick of having to share space with a % of un-educated, impatient & outright dangerous dickhead car AND truck drivers (& bike riders for that matter). I also used to ride high-performance Jap bikes on the road, but stopped for the same reasons. Note that I included pretty much all types of road-going vehicle in that statement because there most definitely are some people, however small or otherwise that % may be, that should not be on the road IN ANY TYPE OF VEHICLE due to their conduct & lack of common-courtesy, & sadly that probably even extends to people within our own ranks.

Something that most of you seem not to realise is the fact that YOU are passing judgement upon a sub-set of people that you most likely have no real information or insight upon, much the same as the general public do when it comes to us. We all by & large drive high-performance Japanese Imports so we MUST all be hoons. Can anyone smell the irony.........
