ey guys, how we all doin?

maybe someone here can help me, i got new bendix advance pads about a month ago and they continue to squeal when i am comming to a stop. i believe it is only the front brakes that do this, does anyone know how to stop this?

i have sanded them back, but still the same thing. is there something wrong with the pads? and should i just go back to the nissan ones?

squeeling can be a number of things

1)glazed pads

2)low brake pad sqeeler set too high

3)slight movement in the pad while it sits in the caliper, you can apply a special greese to the back of the pad before you stik them in to prevent this slight back/forward movement to quieten them down

HOPE THIS HELPS

According to Bendix FAQs:

"Brakes should operate with a minimal amount of noise. Some noise is normal, but excessive squeal, screech, grinding, groaning or banging means that your brakes need attention. Using the wrong formulation for your driving style can also cause noise in your brakes due to excessive heat"

email them at [email protected] to find out more.

Try removing and re-applying the anti-squeal compound, sometimes it doesn't set properly on the back of the pad. But most of the harder compound pads (especially ones with metal) will squeal even if everything is ok.

A lot of it is just the luck of the draw. I got some RB74 pads the other day to be put in next weekend, and I can see some brass or copper particles in them. I'm guessing these also will be quite noisy but all I can do is try them and see what happens.

hmmm interesting

yer the pads looked glazed, so i roughed them up

it KINDA helped, but the noise is back to normal now :)

the dude that put em in cut the pads in 1/2 so they wouldn't heat up as much....does that sound right?

and yeah maybe its time i look into this anti-squeel thing, where can ya get it from and for about how much?
