So i do have a GTS-X!! I heard a couple of things and thought that i didn't but after reading this thread i'm certain my car is a GTS-X as it has the split fold rear seat and also explains why i rarely see a 2 door R31 with a carpeted boot like mine.

Well, the obvious electric front seat in the GTS-X you all know.

Here's the stuff you might not know about the '86 R31...

Also got another Question Rez...

i've seen heaps of bits all over the net that saw the GTS-X didn't start until 87-88.

And that co-insided with the release of the ECCS engines?

can you confirm this... and that NICS only come in GTS/GTS twin cam turbo ??

cheers...

Nics also had the GTS-X Ash, but I have a question for REZ, could he find out what size injectors do the NICS & ECCS redtop have as standard I was always thought they were 255cc but have seen statements that they are only 200 but after inquiring to some bussines they have told me they are actualy bigger than the ones in VL turbo which run the RB30ET which are only 220cc

RB30ET are actually 250CC, RB30E are 200CC

When were R31 GTS models released. i thought i remembered reading somewhere after the GT Passage (about 1995 or something?) with the NICS engine.

I have a RB20E AT FWD ECU (1984 printed on it) here i think it must be from a Passage? It looks very much like a RB30E ECCS ECU though

According to the Japanese Domestic Car Bible, all *Series 1* variants of the HR31 GTS and GTS-X started in May 1986 bar the NISMO, which was Febuary 1987.

As for the NICS and ECCS, I'm at work, so I'll get back to ya...

what changes were there to a series 2?

like the aussie r31 had series 2 to fix some stuff ups on the series 1 but there was no real changes otherwise.

aussie series 3 picked up the import series 3 bits apart from the mouldings and rear bumper which were still series 1 shape with the strip (front bumper has different side moulding to rest of the car! - dodgy nissan australia, south african r31s are like jap r31s with respect to this)

import series 1/3 are easy to pick with body differences (lights, grills, moulding, bumpers etc) but what else changed

Oi lads, when I've finally got some free time, I'm gonna compile a be-all and end-all file of the JDM HR31 Skyline. Some ones gotta do it. It might as well be an Aussie... I know theres alot of stuff about this already out there, but the figures do differ depending on the person/country/time of year etc.

All my stuff will be translated straight from Japanese, and I'll have it proof read at least twice to avoid fook ups...

Sound good? Or a waste of time?

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
    • Would seem to me to be appropriate to go GTR style bar. There are options with and without N1 vent holes, with the GTR lower lip integral (because FG copy). https://justjap.com/search?q=r32 bumper
