oh ok awesome! How much does it cost roughly? I'd prob get work to send it, and they have an account with Toll, so that could work in well. Would be good to have the car in the sense of mobility and being able to randomly catch up with ppl :nyaanyaa:

You enjoying being back over there? Where in Perth are you....I'll be spending 2week blocks in Perth every 6 weeks or so, so def catch up...at least i'll know one person over there :) yay :nyaanyaa:

Umm well mine was free both times (i know ppl on the inside ) but i think from Perth to Syd its about $1300..

Perth is quiet and hot. Nothing is ever open and roads are so smooth! Im in Riverton atm. O0o0o0o we gotta party heaps when you come up here, it'll be fun :)

OI since when!!??

she was always a WA chick....... :nyaanyaa:

Hahahahahaha Exxxxxactly! Damn Sydney ppl trying to own me and shit

G'day people very far west,

My employer is sending me to WA to work for a year, more specifically Kalgoorlie (yes i know its somewhat in the middle of no-where). Just wondering what things in the skyline world are like over there? Anyone here from Kalgoorlie? i've been told that there's a fair few nice imports in Kal (due to mining and good money i guess). Looking forward to meeting up with a few fellow enthusiast's, i'll be spending alot of time in perth aswell. Do you have many events such as track days, cruises, social gatherings etc?

I'm also considering taking my car over...work will ship it over for me, but still have a few things i want to consider such as what is the transport like (can you trust those responsible for moving your car?), where i'm saying (is there a lock up garage etc.) and what the general area is like (is it pretty safe or do 'nice' cars go missing)?

Whether I get my car over there or not look forward meeting new people and appreciate any thoughts/recommendations on what to do while over there in regards to the car....and general social stuff aswell :)

Sam.

Hi Sam, I have been living & working in Kalgoorlie on & off since 1987, firstly Kal is a young person's place where most people come to make quick money, working long hours to do so usually there is no intention to stay longer than necessary to achieve the afore-mentioned goal. Entertainment/social scene is as others have pointed out in this thread tied to the pub scene & Kal has been that way inclined since inception. 1890 or thereabouts. Having said that mouthful Kal is what you make it. There are lots of things to do that are not related to getting maggotted in Hannan Street, many people go camping out bush on the weekends & get maggotted there. :) These first two options are not compulsory however. :D

Others join the many sports related clubs that are strong in the town & find social outlets to their taste from that direction. Indoor cricket, touch rugby, netbal/basketball, the shooting scene etc.

Esperance with its' pristine coastline is a popular weekend destination for many & is about four hours' drive south. Camping in the town of Esperance & surrounds on the beach & fishing related pastimes are very popular.

Other areas' of interest are prospecting/gold seeking, the Gemstone club with organised outings and so on.

Serious automotive work for imports is generally best dealt with in Perth, there are many links & info to good operators (here on SAUWA) & is a wonderful excuse to head off to the city for a few days. I try & arrange things so that a trip to the city coincides with an event that I am interested in involving the car scene although I do not get down as often as I would like, dislike city traffic as much as anything I suppose. Country night-driving is not recommended on these adventures.

The local car scene rotates around speedway when the season is on, also we are trying to get permission from the council to get a dragstrip going & have (I believe) been offered a site by Barrick Mining, opposite the Speedway complex to set this up if & when council approval is granted.

There are a few imports getting around town, perhaps 50 in total, my son was interested in getting an import club going here but is now on the move to Ravensthorpe - BHP Nickel, in the New Year.

There are many more classic Aussie muscle cars, all car loving people who likewise tend to keep a close eye on their treasures as there are the usual nobheads about that resent the ownership by others of nice things so you will not see many headturners parked in the street un-attended which may lead to the impression that Kal does not have a car scene. It is here but not organised is all.

Obviously the offroad department is strongest be it bikes, quads or 4wds but if you take the time to check things out you will find a niche for sure.

Transporting vehicles; we have had no trouble with Autotrans, very professional but delivery is to Perth & then reloaded to get back up the track at extra cost. Best fun option is "drive it".

I trust nobody minds me taking this opportunity to give the resources heart of WA a plug. :(

Come and enjoy the Goldfields.

Cheers GW :D

PS: forgot to mention the Aeroclub.

far out, that was epic, thanks for that mate, gives me a good picture. I'm thinking now that I'm going to safely tuck my car away for a year, save money (insurance is crazy for me) and get a dirt bike and have some fun over there.

still keen to catch up with members, i'll at least need some nice cars to look at :)

see you guys soon....only a few weeks to go now :D

    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
    • I just quote the Rolling Stones. Paint it black.
