Ive got an R32 gtst running stock turbo and boost with pod filter and front mount cooler. I want a cat back exhaust thats a cannon style and want it to be within legal DB limit for NSW. I was looking at kakimoto and was told it was a 'legal' 91 db. I thought 91DB is illegal for NSW. Which exhaust should i be looking at?

Go for Fujitsubo. They are known for having the quietest systems without comprimising performance. Have used them a few times on previous cars, would highly recommend them. Probably a "Power Getter" or "RM-01A" model would suit nicely. If you can find someone that stocks them, they should be anywhere between $1200-$1500 for cat back.

OR for a cheap alternative, go an X-Force cat back system with silencer in it - less than $1,000 easy

Would i benefit from a cannon just welded from the tip on standard exhaust? I can get one for free, thats why i ask.

You probably wont see any gains from just adding a cannon onto the stock exhaust. The size of the exhaust piping, the type of bends used as well as the cat converter determine how free flowing the exhaust is. Even adding a cat back exhaust will probably only see a small gain if any. If you dont have the funds to get a turbo back 3" exhaust and a new cat start off with the cat back and then as you get the money add a 3" dump/front pipe and then a better flowing cat converter. Thats the way I have gone, I picked up a mandrel bent 3" cat back exhaust a couple of months ago and am about to add a dump/front pipe. Then in a month or two want to get a 3" metal cat fitted when I have a spare $400 (gotta love christmas)

But wont a full 3" from turbo be loud? I may just stick with getting a cat back, buts whats a quiet one to get?

You wont really know till you put it on, it also depends on the cannon that you use. If the cannon has more dampening fibres it will be quieter. I think you will be hard pressed finding a quiet, free flowing exhaust that will give you more power. Those two things don't really go together

as long as u have 2 mufflers it is quiet

i have a kakimoto one not sure if its 3 or 3.5" from turbo back

says reg 92db on the cannon altho i think its 89db for NSW? either way its really quiet but when it opens up its nice and loud

So the kakimoto will not be legal for NSW then?
