speaker sizes ..

i know that this has been talked about before .. but it seems that companies don't understand how to make things to spec so what is the "true" size of the side speakers on the r33 ... if u buy 6.5" speakers it won't fit cause the holder has the weird squary shape which leads me to beleive its a 5.25" size?? correct me if i'm wrong ... i beleive the hole mount is the same for both speakers?? ...

Just installed some in my R33 front doors on w/end - they're definately 6" (152.4mm) speakers. The ones I have just squeeze into the rectangular speaker location. 6½" wont fit.

I fit a set of Pioneer TS-C1625 splits in my car with no problem I think they are 6½" (16cm / 2.5 = 6.4"). Correct me if I am wrong.

did u have to modify the original speaker holder?

I just installed my clarion 5 1/4s. Had to make mounts to go inside the stock mounts. Looks smick now and sounds good.

u see them pioneers up there they got heaps of mounts so it will fit lots of different types of holders .. most speakers dont' have that ... i had to go to the trouble of making up my own .. took me friggin ages ...

Lol, know what u goin thru. Tryin to fit focal 6.5's in a car that has like really small 5.5's and the magnets foul against windows quite a lot and goin 2 need to cut the back of the door skin out abit as well as make up some spacers

I've got Alpine 6.5" splits in mine, and they fit no worries. I simply made up a replacement mount with some thick MDF (iirc it was 18mm or something), it was incredibly easy
