well ive tryed over the weekend the benefits of pod in engine bay vs pod under guard.

Results as below:

In engine bay:

* Poor response

* Lacking in power

* Sucks in heat and dust

Underguard:

* Very Excellent response

* Feels like more power

* Some signs of elements(water, dirt) being sucked in but very minimal.

So under the guard is the best form of cold air especially if you feed the cold air to it.

hope it helps

I used 2 pieces of 45degree 100mm PVC pipe

Cut a 100mm dia hole underneath my stock R32 Airbox and pointed one of the 45degree 100mm PVC pipes towards the front of the car.

I connected the other 45degree bend in to the 45degree bend that points towards the front of the car so it points in to the air box.

Then with the dremel I slowly chipped away at the lower half of the air box.

Looking in to the engine bay it looks very clean and stock.

Wouldn't pick it unless you went for a VIS as cutting any metal is illegal.

If I ever go for a VIS I will have to replace the dogleg (i think its called) or maybe just slap a piece of painted black plate over the hole and pop rivet it in so it doesn't stand out.

If its intercooled, why the need for cold air intake? Doesnt the coola bring the temp back to around 20deg anyway??? :confused:

It couldn't possibly make all that much difference unless its boosted beyond what the coola can handle. Could it??:confused:

:uhh: You seem to be overlooking the amount of hot air that will be taken it by pod filters if not properly shielded.
