Hey everyone,

Desperate need for some advice, my engine is an R33 useing N1 internalls apex 272 cam sharft, port and polished, Jun valve spring.

Garett 25/60r Turbos.

This is the problem i have purchased Motul 300v chrono 10 - 40w.

My mates are telling me this oil will be too thin for my engine?

Is this true?

I use 10-60 in my built motor

either way, what you have is fine.

plenty of others doing the same

does your mate drive a v8 or something? 10/40 is spot on as long as your clearances are pretty normal, the only way you might want to go is a little thinner like 5/50 for a little extra go.

Did you mean thicker? 5W-50 is only thinner when cold. Its about 25% more viscous at 100 deg C.

I'd stick with the 10W-40 unless you have an oil temperature problem, in which case you're better off fixing that than putting in a thicker oil. Remember Nissan recommend 7.5W-30.

Also using 10w60 here. The higher hot rating is a little better if you do alot of track work, otherwise stick with what you have now, it's perfect.

I use Fuchs 0/30 in our Blueprinted engines and Mobil 1 0/40 in basic fresh RBs,Never had any problem and better life from crappy Nissan oil pumps.
